steevc just finished a 8.3km run, that lasted for 74 minutes.
This run helped steevc burn 681.0 calories.

Description from Strava:
It has been a wet week, so I was expecting some mud at Henlow Bridge Lakes. It was dry this morning, but after crossing the railway I could see that the river was really high and that was not a great omen. The big puddle by the weir was back and other parts of the course were really wet. The river was almost high enough to flood the course and that would have meant cancelling. Other events in the area have been cancelled due to conditions. Sometimes the land owners do not want it churned up too much.

A dedicated few had turned out with at least one guy doing their first ever parkrun. Numbers were well down on last week and it was not a day for fast times. Even with trail shoes I was sliding around and some people were in road shoes with less grip.

One guy nearly slipped over in front of me on the mud. Further round there is an entrance to the campsite we cross known as Splash gate that lived up to its name with a big puddle. That guy who slipped went over on his bum there, but soon got up to carry on. I just splashed through that and the next puddle. I was going to have to do them again anyway.

Splash!
This photo is from the event Facebook page.

I managed to stay upright, but even I was sliding about. I was not pushing too hard as it was just not worth the risk. Despite that my time was not too bad and I finished 14th out of 46 with some just walking in wellies.

On the way home I met Graeme walking his dog. He decided not to run, but I may see him tomorrow if we are both out on our long runs.

I had to take my shoes and socks off before going in the house. My legs were not really that muddy compared with other people I saw. I did really need a shower though.

I saw one of the other parkruns advertising that there would be a new parkhop category for anyone with an injured leg. We can expect to see a few jokes around today.

Have fun.

Are you going to run tomorrow too?
Do you run on Sundays?
And I hope the guy who fell did not get injured?

I usually run on Sunday as that is when I have time for a long run. I do not run every day though.

That guy was fine, just a little embarrassed.

Well done with the Parkrun today @steevc I am sure it was set out there after all this rain. I am sitting it out for a month as I fast during Ramadan.

The parkhop - that is so funny. Love it !LOL

Some people will always turn out and the volunteers are amazing. This sort of thing gives you hope for humanity.

Oh, dear! I just saw this, which answers my question. So the weather there is pretty much the same as I'm experiencing.
I'm glad you didn't fall because there's always some delayed injury with falls.

I slipped on some mud the other week, but no damage was done and nobody saw it happen. Everything has risks, but I generally feel better after a run.

I admire runners, especially in adverse conditions. I'm happy you are still feeling okay, a week later :)

Yuk... looks too wet on that pic for my liking lol!

That said, I think I do need to do more runs on trails this year (one of many reason why I struggled on my sandy marathon I suspect) I do need to invest in some trail shoes first.

Well done you on completing another park run... will you be able to reach 100 this year?

I'm fairly confident of getting my century this year as well as 25 volunteer sessions. Just need to avoid injury.
