steevc just finished a 12.27km run, that lasted for 73 minutes.
This run helped steevc burn 930.0 calories.

Description from Strava:
Google Photos showed me that a year ago I was out running in the snow. Today we just have very light rain, so I put on a hat to keep my head dry.

I ran up the new road towards the bridge over the bypass. I had heard there was a new sculpture up there. It has some flower and descriptions of Arlesey landmarks. I think it looks nice and the sun will shine through the flowers on brighter days. I saw a fellow parkrunner later who thought it was a waste of money, but we need some things to brighten the place up. Mind you, councillors have a habit of spending on vanity projects. The got a fake village pump years ago that I am not impressed by. It is not when the original one was. I suspect there are companies that go around the country selling these things, but the new sculpture is more specific to here.

When over the bridge there are some tracks through Etonbury wood that can get muddy, but they were not too bad. I was marshalling at parkrun yesterday where the course has dried out a lot since the previous week. When I got to the road I went straight on to take the path towards Astwick. It was feeling like hard work, but according to Strava my pace was not too bad really.

I usually do this route in the opposite direction, so I noticed different things going clockwise. There are some interesting old houses around Stotfold as well as big new estates. I think the latter could do with more solar panels. Ours will not do so well today, but the battery should get charged up.

I went through the newish estate by the bypass to work around to the Fairfield road. There is a bit of a climb to there. I had a look at another new development that has no footpaths. I wonder if they want to integrate pedestrians and cars more, but that can end badly. I wondered if there was a way to get out the other end, but I had to turn back the way I came.

I took the short way through Fairfield as this was going to be a decent distance anyway. Coming down the hill is always a nice relief, but I still have to keep my legs moving.

It seems I got some second and third best times on parts of this route, but then I do not run it too often in this direction. I am still happy with the overall pace that seems to indicate I am improving.

Back in Arlesey I had a quick look at the new car charging points by the MUGA (multi-use games area). These are run by BP. The oil companies are profiting from the new technology. I would be interested to know how much use these get. There are a lot of homes around here with no driveway who may want to use them.

I have a band rehearsal later. I will be taking the drum kit, so I need to get that packed up.

Run free!
