I think it would take me at least 2 hours to travel 8km in my current... ahem... state...
I recon you could walk a flat 5 kilometre parkrun in an hour. Might be a good little challenge for you

Cape Town apparently has a lot of Parkruns.
I haven't done parkrun in a while. There's one in Century city, melkbos, and I think big bay opened again.

What if some other people are scared of dogs?
I don't like angry dogs either. Most out here are well trained and have to be kept on a leash in public unless at at designated of leash parks or dog beaches.
