dannewton just finished a 24.84km run, that lasted for 160 minutes.
This run helped dannewton burn 1875.0 calories.

Description from Strava:
Was lovely out there today, nice and sunny, but not too hot like it has been recently.

The 'long run' should have been yesterday, but i kinda ran out of time (pun not intended!). I did a shorter 10k effort yesterday, which was enough to tide me over until today.

I wasn't entirely sure where i was going to go, just that i knew i wanted to go somewhere new. I spent 20 minutes on Strava Routes checking out the local area, and eventual came up with the image below.

I've done several runs down Brant Road recently, and I've noticed there is a small footpath that runs between 2 fields and heads to North Hykeham. The rest of the run via Lincoln and Branston would be tried and tested, but the North Hykeham section (highlighted in yellow) would be interesting enough for a run.

The route was also going to be my longest run since the end of April, and i was definitely long overdue a run of this length. I really do need to start picking up the longer runs again.

Route decided, it was time to head out.

I tried hard to get out early today, but that didn't really work. In the end I eventually got moving at 10am. As mentioned before, the sun was shining, but it wasn't too hot for once.

I did slap on some suncream anyway, as I did get rather sunburnt a couple of weeks back

Running through Waddington...

...and down Station Road... its quite a steep hill btw, even if it doesn't look it!

I turned down Brant Road, and almost immediately I take a right turn.

Here is my 'new path'.

It starts out quite wide...

...and then very quickly turns into a tiny little footpath.

It was very quiet down here, an d I did manage to see some Butterflies flitting about in the sunshine

I also found a bonus bridge... which i didn't expect to find

When I consulted the map again afterwards, i realized the route did indeed pass a bridge, I just didn't notice it when I originally created it!!

After crossing the bridge, I run through a field of 'crops'

(no idea what the crop actually was)

and eventually I rejoined civilization in the form of North Hykeham

The rest of the run passed through a more familiar route, heading back into Lincoln

along the side of South Common, and then up Canwick Hill...

...on the road to Branston village

...and then finally back out of the other side of Branston, I took a small farm track to pass through a farm and eventually make it home.

It turned out to a be a nice and varied route in the end, and one I'll do again soon

The only disappointment in all of this was that I had mapped out a route which was apparently 25km, and by the time I made it back I had only covered only 24.85km.... I know its only a few meters short, but still annoying... I presume it was done to the Strava routes not being 100% accurate.

Nevermind, it was still an enjoyable run out today, and it was still the longest distance I've managed to run in nearly 4 months!

Looks like some nice places to run and it's always good to go somewhere new. The weather has been good lately, so make the most of it.

Yep a change of scene helps to keep it fresh, surprising how quickly some routes become boring... and helps give me some flexibility over the actual distance of each run.

Definitely enjoying the cooler temps, but still want to make themost of it before autumn arrives properly

I love how you decide on the route to pass and not just passing the same route all the time
I’m glad you had an enjoyable run
