Eerie Echoing Stadiums
The Corona Virus has effected the Serie A league in Italy more than any other league in Europe so far. What I find interesting is the bickering between the various clubs accusing them of not wanting to play. The truth is they can play, but only behind closed doors.
The Sports Minister the other day made the right call and the only call he could in a very different situation. This is the first time something like this has happened and these are testing times for the public and the various sports clubs.

Thursdays game played in front of empty stands.
Firstly they are businesses and have to be run as profitably as possible. I can understand both sides of the argument and the unwillingness of clubs to play in empty stadiums is something of a kick in the balls. A stadium holding 60 000 spectators is a pay day no club wants to give up and will try anything to keep the game alive by postponing the match.
Ii also believe they are possibly waiting for financial assistance form The Serie A or from UEFA for loss of earnings from gate takings. If the teams don't play then they have a problem which needs to be resolved. The clubs are in a no win situation and this is highly irregular which we have never seen the likes of before.

Still gaps to be filled as they could condense matches like the English do over the Christmas period.
Inter still have 14 matches to play with the season ending on the 24th May and the fixtures may be tight for rescheduling now, but it will be far worse in a few weeks time. From what i can see it is not going to improve any time soon so surely it is in the best interests of the sport to play the games behind closed doors no matter what financial looses are incurred.
Juventus offered to play the club with open doors on Monday which quite frankly is still not an option as what does one day's difference make. This is not an option as the Sports Minister has already banned open door games in certain regions.
Everyone is trying to come out smelling like roses and this can never happen.Blaming each other for delaying the game is only going to back them both into a corner. The game was scheduled for today and it should have gone ahead no matter what.
I watched a game the other night or part of it just to see and you could hear the players shouting to each other as the sounds echoed around the empty stadium. The Inter manager said he has a duty to the broadcasters and fans and wont play in an empty stadium and in my opinion has very little choice.
Who is going to make the first move as someone has to. I am sure there are discussions going on behind the scenes with talk over compensation as we are talking about clubs losing millions from gate turnover. Broadcasters wont be worried as they will have all the supporters watching them anyway and possibly could ask more for commercials.
