my visit to Fred C. Andersen Skate Camp

i was fortunate to be invited to skate the ramps in the woods at the boy scout camp near my house. it felt like a special place. very secluded in the woods, the ramps were rebuilt by a couple people from old skateparks in the area that were taken down.

the scene

i think the street course you see me crooked grinding was built from scratch. it seems pretty unique to the terrain its on. i skated with a bunch of shredders too. some of whom i hadnt met before.

the ramps were covered with tons of leaves because they are falling right now. it looked so cool. it felt like we were discovering and digging up some ancient relic that was hidden dorment in the woods. it really did feel like a magical place. before snowfall, there were some preperations we had to do like raise the ramp parts that havent been hooked up yet, above the ground using bricks so they dont sit on the ground all winter and rot.

i got a skatehive shirt!

one of the people i met named Dom who helped build the ramps had a 13.5 inch wide board. it was really crazy to ride, it made me feel like how little kids feel when the board is too big for thier feet. it was humbling and fun to try to go through the basic tricks on it. Jake carlson did a treflip on it.

Its honestly crazy how much work it must have been to build this place. i had no idea you could dismantle a skatepark and transport it to a new location and successfully re-install it like that. it seems like an intimidating task. i was in awe at the project itself.

its super close to my house i would be stoked if they invited me to come help out working on the ramps or something.

It's a beautiful place to skate, you had to clear the leaves and you skated skillfully, wow...the photos are beautiful.

Greetings and much love
