Tom Brady is hitting free agency for the first time.  Patriot fans are hoping they keep their icon in the same uniform.  Bill Belichick, the Patriots football controller, and Brady spoke about the contract for the fist time.

It did not go well according to some close to the talks.

The word "contentious" was used.

We are seeing how the business of football is taking over.  There is no such thing as loyalty in sports.  Players and teams operate in their own best interest.

It is a fact that the Patriots have to pursue this as any other negotiation.  At the same time, Brady has to decide what is most important to him.  If it is the money, elsewhere might be his destination.

Teams faced with aging players are often in tough positions.  The New York Giants faced that recently with Eli Manning.  Fortunately for them, Manning decided to retire instead of wearing another jersey next year.
