Flood light cricket - the first experience in life

It's quite better than what I thought

20240515_205218.jpg

Being associated with sports is one of the best things that one can do, and I am very happy to be part of our sporting events, where they reserve a special slot for us - the veterans. We have got a Flood light stadium at my native place, that was built very recently, and the entry to it is restricted, because, maintenance cost of it is very high. For the first time this year, they organized a ward level cricket tournament, involving all young kids ( who are playing now), inviting 24 teams. And with that, they added two teams for us - two veteran teams, involving all 40+ kids ( ya, you will still have that spirit, if you stay connected to sports).

20240515_204827.jpg

Our event was a little different with some formal arrangements, starting with Introduction with the guest ( who was a former player), and then challenging each other to win the match - the enthusiasm to fight on the field still remains as is.

20240515_204442.jpg

The organizers arranged some nice T-shirts for all players and that added extra glamor to the event. And even in this summer, the environment felt quite normal, because of so much open space and cool wind. I was of the impression that, my near vision problem ( after 40 impact for which I wear a glass to read in front of a laptop or reading small letters) will impact me playing in the flood light, and visualizing that ball would be difficult🙂, but it felt quite normal inside the field.

We won the toss and invited them to bat, our bowlers did quite well and took early wickets, taking their best batsmen out. It was a 8 over match and they lost 5 wickets in just 2 overs.

20240515_210444.jpg

Our captain then took some real bad decisions, to bring in bowlers in their sixties. They had scored only 15 runs in 4 overs, but took the advantage of this bad decision, and scored 99 in 8 overs, out of which, one batsman alone scored 60 runs. This is what happens in sports - anything is possible.

20240515_205132.jpg

Chasing that score of 99, we could make only 68 in 8 overs, and everyone was like - next time we will have a different Captain😀

Some people take it two seriously, some enjoy, some fight, and some laugh - it was so much fun. And because of this event, I was able to meet some of my classmates from college time, an extra bonus to attend such events. To conclude the evening, they had arranged beer and chicken biriyani - an event without food is incomplete. However I had to run quietly , because Dad was waiting to eat dinner with me. They called me repeatedly to go back, but then Dad was more priority, so I said, we will meet again soon.

This would remain a special memorable event for me, captured on this chain.

The Captain was so angry and everyone was teasing him and enjoying the fun. Of the field, things become normal, quite enjoyed.

A bad decision by your captain helped them to score 99 in 8 overs.
But still, I think 99 in 8 overs was a chasable target in cricket nowadays.
Hard luck for your team and best of luck for the next match.
These types of events are good for our physical as well as mental health.
Thanks for sharing.

Ya, kids were putting even 150+ in 8 overs.

Cricket has always been a passion in India. And floodlight matches bring glamour to cricket.

They had scored only 15 runs in 4 overs, but took advantage of this bad decision, and scored 99 in 8 overs, out of which, one batsman alone scored 60 runs

Opps for the bowling side and what a turnaround by the batting side. That uncertainty is the name of the game.

You always look younger with sporting attire Sir. It's good that you have a strong enthusiasm still running in your spirit as and when it's a matter of cricket. It's good. Cricket in India is more than just a sport. And gully cricket and ward cricket are more of a socializing event.

Thank you.

That's good enough for us, the socialization, the enjoyments..

Oh menh, I could feel the tension and excitement from this post all at the same time. Too bad the captain made a bad decision, but the love of sports is the most important. Good game

Hehe
This is awesome and I hope you get to do this more often. I’m sure you had fun playing cricket and I just hope some people understood the fact that it is just a game so they don’t get to take it too seriously

I love the ground's topography. It is even and the grass turf is tick with a feel of velvet, that would prevent any injury and players could fearlessly dive into fielding.

Love your sporting spirit. But you missed Biriyani.

Good morning dear friend @sanjeevm
Being involved in sports and participating in sporting events, in addition to doing something healthy for the body, is very good for social bonding.
It's good that you haven't had problems with your vision on the field, and although you haven't been victorious, there is no doubt that it has been a very fun and entertaining event.
I appreciate that you let us know about this experience.
have a happy start to the week

It looks like this brought out the inner child in you and I’m so glad about that
It’s just a game and not a very serious thing that is enough to cause fight
Nice play!

It's amazing to see such enthusiasm, eagerness and spirit in your team! The addition of veteran teams in the tournament seems to be a fantastic way to honor and include all age groups, building a strong connection to sports. The new floodlight stadium sounds impressive, and it sounds great that it brings everyone together despite its high maintenance. Keep up the great work and the sportsmanship!!

This looks awesome. It is so much better than the old place you played in. I haven't tried playing under floodlamp lights, and it looks too bright. But I guess the eyes can just adjust to it eventually. I'm happy that you have a place to play again.

I'm happy that you have a place to play again.

Our field is yet to be built, but this is another stadium that is built in my place, entry is restricted though. I hope by this year end, we will have our field ready as well, because we have our annual event in December.
