My thoughts on the opening weekend of the 2021 six nations.
The 6 nations kicks off in just over 2 hours, so I thought I'd give you a my thoight and predictions for the openi g round.
France to rip Italy apart. Italy to perform honourably for the first 60, but France to be far too strong and to win comfortably by 15+
England and Scotland.... The oldest international match in history. Scotland looking great at the moment, playing some sexy rugby with Fin Russell pulli g the strings and Hoggy running some amazing lines from fullback, will push England all the way. I'd love to see Scotland win at Twickenham for the first time in 30yrs +, but my head says England are just too strong in every position to be undone today.
Wales are struggling under their new coaching set up, but things are building slowly and Wales are adopting to a new style of playing. Has this match come to soon for them to turn over a confident Ireland?? If Wales can match Ireland at rhe breakdown and be as physical, they stand a chance, but Ireland are to structured and good for a Welsh win this time.
Get to the bookies and but a France, England & Ireland acca on and you won't go far wrong.
Has to be an upset somewhere and possibly Wales may sneak it. I haven't followed this as yet so I will watch and see what unfolds. First weekends normally have an upset so it won't be Italy so who knows.
I'm Welsh, so my heart says Wales will sneak it... But as a country of constant pessimism, I'm saying Ireland and hoping for a Welsh win. Things haven't been all sunshine and rainbows under the new coaching system. Warren Gatlan held the reigns for so long and built a system and group of players that would win. Pivac has a big job and even bigger boots to fill...... He plays a more open, attack g system than Warrren did, so only time will tell if it works for us.
Pivac is trying to change things too much and don't believe he has the quality in the squad to play that way. Stick to your strengths and don't try to be something you can't be. I don't think he will be keeping the post for long.
The story of Welsh Rugby : promise so much, deliver very little (when it matters). I can see Wales putting in "some" good performances throughout the tournament, but we will be languishing at the bottom of the table! Thankfully, after watching the Italians just now, I'm confident we won't be finishing bottom at least.
So we have one upset already with England going down to the Scots and need one ore tomorrow. Told you it always happens on the first weekend.
Good job no one listens to me and put a bet on that game! Good job Scotland, they played very well. Thought they dominated the forwards. A lot of those boys putting their hands up for the lions - particularly Hamish Watson and the Gray
