World Cup quarter finals - Day 1: The ref went bonkers.

Today, being the day 1 of the quarter finals of the World Cup, has already offered a lot of talking points for us.

It's so fascinating to see how this tournament is evolving and I'm genuinely dazzled by the games I watched today.

You know the games, right?

  • Netherlands 2 - 2 Argentina🟢

  • Croatia🟢 1 - 1 Brazil

Each of these games were a joy to watch and both teams went toe to toe against each other. They literally kicked 50 shades of shit out of each other and dragged on the game until it got settled in penalty shootouts.

You know what? I really can't make head or tail of what Croatia are good at. Haha. This sounds insane considering how well they performed in the previous World Cup and they are also getting the job done this time around. But, I really don't rate them highly.

I never imagined Croatia would survive this Brazil masterclass. There is nothing too special about this Croatian team, yet they always manage to drag games into extra time and then to penalty shootout. Using that tactics against this brilliant Brazil squad is something I never thought would have been possible.

Well, I won't get salty about their success. GoodLuck to them for making it into the next round of the competition. Their game against Argentina would be an interesting one to watch.

Talking about Argentina, they also did a really good job in their game against Netherlands.

When I weighed everything that happened in this game on a scale, I couldn't help but place the referee at the epicenter of the whole drama. Haha. Man was dishing out yellow cards for fun.

The referee went bonkers and was ready to even extend the yellow card to ball boys, fans and every 'harry' that attempts to steal the spotlight from him. Hehe.

Well, I feel gutted to know that Brazil's spell in this world cup is over. It would have been fun to see them play against Argentina, but Croatia had other plans. Hehe.

Congrats to Argentina and Croatia. Let's look forward to what day 2 of the quarter finals will bring to the big screen, for our viewing pleasure.

I don't think any of the yellows were bad and I still got the impression that Paredes shouldn't have finished the game on the field since already with a yellow card he continued to make some tough tackles

The ref had himself in a tough spot when he started giving yellow for slight tackles in the first half. It felt like he wanted to cool things down in the beginning of the second half, but it was not going his way. That's when he decided to flow with the tide and continue spreading the cards around. Haha.

The number of bookings in this match is just insane. No wrong calls though. It was just hilarious when people were also getting booked during penalty shootout.

I saw that yellow card during penalty shoot out and I didnt understand why he gave the yellow.

Now, I am hooing that country (Portugal) be able to qualify to semi-final but I know that will be a very difficult game.

Yeah. Those yellow cards were more like a joke. Haha. I couldn't hold him my laughter when I saw that.

The Portugal game is going to be dicey. Morocco are just blazing through each stage of this tournament and we are yet to know exactly what they are capable of doing. Can't wait to see how that one unfolds.

I told someone that Brazil was going to go home in this quarter finals and he first said it was impossible but later said unless Croatia drags them to penalties. Remember also that in one of your previous posts (in the comment section), i said Brazil needed to be very careful, they seemed to be ahead of themselves - after their dance displays against S. Korea, like they've won the trophy. Seems like they weren't careful.

Hahah.... All the series of dancing they displayed against South Korea raised so much controversy. Perhaps, they might have stepped into this game with the believe that it will be an easy fixture. Hehe.

Croatia were not having any of that. They did what they do best and are now heading into the next round of the competition.

That referee is just terrible but always his plan no work and Argentina are through to the semifinals 😎😎😎

Hahah... The man was really annoying, but it became comical when he started giving card that are in bench..he also gave Yellow cards during penalty shootout. Haha
