Real Madrid Vs Manchester City : My Review On The Match
Last night's match between Real Madrid and Manchester City was challenging as expected, both teams went head-to-head against each other and got a goal each in the game. Vinicius Jnr opened the scoreline in the first half with a fantastic goal from outside the box, and Kevin De Bruyne equalized in the second half with a stunning strike outside the box to keep his side's hope alive in the second leg of the competition.
There is a lot to take from last night's match and I notices a few things about City last night. Manchester City started strong in the early minutes of the first half, they lead counterattacks but that finish end was lacking in the team even with Haaland on the pitch. The defending champions of the EPL later lost their touch 26 minutes into the first half which gave Real Madrid a little momentum to push forward, and one thing about Madrid is that if you give them just a little chance they would make the best of it and that how they got their first goal.
Manchester City found it hard to press forward with the ball and Madrid was very good at cutting off Kevin De Bruyne in the first half, blocking him from making those dangerous passing to Haaland and knowing Haalnd he hardly miss any chance in front of goal. Real Madrid blocked Kevin De Bruyne and also cut off Haaland for the match which made it difficult for City to move forward and Jack Grealish was not really making anything when the ball was with him, I would have preferred Foden or Alvarez to had play ahead of Grealish last night.
Talking about Foden, Pep seems to be using him less this season in all competitions. This was the same guy Pep praised a season ago about his work effort but now Foden looks to have lost his place in the starting lineup for City. Pep did not make any substitutions last night against Madrid, I was expecting Mahrez and Alvarez to be introduced but Pep was confident in the players to play the match till the end. I think Pep does not want to review all his cards last night, and will probably unleash them in the return leg.
Kyle Walker on the other hand did a good job in holding Vinicius Jnr, apart from Vinicus's goal, the Brazillian found it hard to execute any chance to set up Benzema who ghosted in the match. Manchester City's defense did a good job of handling Benzema and closing down any space that could give the French man an opportunity to get a goal in the match.
The return leg is on the 17th of May which is my birthday and I hope City gives me a better birthday present by knocking out Real Madrid in the second leg at the Etihad Stadium. Looking forward to the return leg and I am 100% sure Manchester City will beat Madrid and head to the final on the 17th. So guys that will be all for now, thanks for stopping by, and have a good day.
These 2 going against each other in the return leg will be fireworks. I had the feeling it would be a draw but I thought it would be high scoring. I’m amazed why Pep doesn’t use Foden more now. The last time I genuinely remember him playing was against United in that thumping 6-3 game.
It was an incredible game and same here I still can't wrap my head around why Foden is not getting playing time, I think if this continues he should probably be loaned or leave the club, his talent can't just go to waste.
I don’t think they’ll loan him or sell him unless he’s too desperate to leave the club. I can see him turning into Mahrez and being happy to be played when called upon. The city team is too good that when you’re benched for even a game, the others not sit around waiting for you to come and be the hero.
That’s was a very interesting matchup, that is what a UCL game should look like
That is why we love it
