Arsenal claim a well deserved Hallowin against Leicester
Arsenal were in action against Leicester city which saw them extends their unbeaten run in all competitions to nine matches as they defeated the foxes with a 2-0 win away from home.
Leicester city however, are still without a clean sheet since the opening game of the Premier League season, which is not a good record for them at the moment, and their defensive errors were exposed early on against the gunners.
The host poor record on conceding just took less than five minutes for Arsenal to open the scoring as Gabriel headed in Bukayo Saka’s corner to put the visitors in front. Gabonese international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ghanaian Thomas Partey both tested Kasper Schmeichel before the Danish international was beaten for a second time in less than 20 minutes in the game.
The Gunners performed a quick counter-attack involving Bukayo Saka and Alexandre Lacazette forcing the ‘Foxes’ back, as the hosts defence were not able to handle the attack in their own box, Emile Smith Rowe with no mistake pounced with a tidy finish to make it 2-0 for the visitors.
With Leicester city however, conceding two early goals the host did threaten in their attempts to get back into the game, but Arsenal stopper Aaron Ramsdale produced a wonderful fingertip save to deny Kelechi Iheanacho from getting into the score sheet.
Despite making that save, Aaron Ramsdale made another equally impressive save where James Maddison free-kick was saved by the keeper before Jonny Evans follow-in effort somehow stayed out and that save however, happens to be save of the week if possible.
A lot would be running in the head of Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers as his side are 2-0 down before halftime, with the score line so far, the onus was on Leicester to come out and attack in other to get back to the game.
The second half started with a good note with Brendan Rodgers introducing new fresh legs for the game as Ademola Lookman and Harvey Barnes partake in the second half to make some changes in the game.
The host started with a quality style of play in the second half as they begin to pressurize the gunners in search of a goal, with several chances and opportunites were wasted followed by a far more dangerous one from Luke Thomas, but his effort went wide of the post.
Despite Leicester not utilizing their chances Aaron Ramsdale was called upon twice more, with equal shots from substitute Ademola Lookman and Harvey Barnes but the stopper was there to maintain the cleansheet.
As the host continue with the pressure through the second half, it was Kasper Schmeichel’s turn to save the 'foxes' as he kept out a close-range Aubameyang effort to prevent a third goal for the visitors. In response to that, Leicester city pushed forward, but Arsenal stood firm and was equal to the task for a fourth league clean sheet of the term as the clear-cut chances for the host dried up.
It is a well deserved victory for Arsenal as Mikel Arteta’s men have now won on their last three visits to the King Power Stadium, and this Halloween victory sees them move up to fifth in the premier league table. Despite starting poorly in this season campaign, the Gunners have appear to have found their groove and their way back on track.
While Leicester city with the lost moved down to 10th in the log and could even drop out of the top half depending on other results this weekend with other clubs yet to play.
