Holiday Football and Basketball: The Perfect Present

Despite college basketball season starting to get exciting, we need to remember that there are still NCAA football games happening too. In fact, there is probably so much going on this weekend you might not know where to turn to catch all the good stuff. I can't promise you I am going to give you all the hits, but I will do my best.

It's college bowl season as well as the new 12 team playoff season, so things are going to be a bit crazy from here to the end of the year.

I've actually got a lot of stuff happening this weekend before the holidays, so I am not sure how much I am actually going to be able to get done in terms of sports watching this weekend. At the very least, I hope to catch the Michigan State game when they face off on the court with Florida Atlantic. The problem is, it happens at noon on Saturday when I am supposed to be meeting my family for lunch, so that likely isn't going to happen. I will have to DVR it and watch it later.

As I said, there are a slew of football games to check out this weekend. I mentioned a couple of them in my earlier posts, but I will cover them again here lest you forget.

At noon today we have the Cure Bowl with Ohio and Jacksonville State. It's a nothing of a game honestly, but if you are a fan of college football, you will probably find yourself watching.

After that we have the Gasparilla Bowl with Tulane and Florida. Florida does have some name recognition, so this could be a reasonable game. Tonight we have the first playoff game with (8) Indiana taing on (5) Notre Dame in South Bend. It's pretty snow here in Michigan right now, so I can only imagine what it will be like just across the boarder at 8 PM tonight.

Tomorrow we have (10) SMU taking on (4) Penn State in another playoff game as well as (16) Clemson at (3) Texas in the 4 PM slot. The night game will be a big one with (7) Tennessee heading into the cold of Ohio for a game against (6) Ohio State.

After that, things break away for the NFL until Monday when the bowl games pick back up in full force.

From there it is a mad dash to the end of the year and the remaining playoff games. It's going to be a heck of a ride!

Be sure to squeeze in some time to open your presents, fill your face, and talk with your estranged relative that you only see once a year!

Notre Dame is up 14-0 as I type this and I am starting to feel a bit bad for Indiana. such a hard working season and they are kind of looking like they don't belong there at this point. I hope they can turn it around even though I picked ND to win this one.

I think a lot of people felt that way about Indiana. It has been the narrative most of the season that their strength of schedule was pretty easy. I did expect them to put up a bit more of a fight. I can't really nit pick though, they did much better than my Spartans!
