Physical Health vs Mental Health in Female Athletes
You get hurt, but this is something that other people cannot see. There are lots of pressure and depression going on in the mind of athletes. You will be surprised if you know that. People do not talk about it that much. But it is certainly there. It affects your career and life.
It is good to see some athletes come forward and talk about it. USC Volleyball star Victoria Garrick talks about her anxiety, struggle, depression, eating disorders and mental health in female athletes.
She shares her story. If you are the one who suffers from this, just know you are not alone. People see Instagram and feel pressure to look in a certain way, and being an athlete, you look in a different way. It is time to talk about it. It is as important as physical health.
People can easily see how you look like because that's physical, but your mental health, other people cannot see that. Probably, when you are not satisfied with something or depression, you start eating. You may not realize that, but eating something unhealthy has a negative impact on your body. You can change this behavior and choose what you want to be.
You have to take the step come out of your comfort zone. It is okay to ask for help. We all need help. You can get over it and be the best version of you.
