Done Deal Weeks Ago

This is when I think Levy panicked and started to hunt for a new manager and that was October the 1st. Bayern thrashed Spurs that night and Pochettino lost any support in the boardroom.
The first I heard Spurs had gotten rid of their manager was when i saw an article about Jose Mourinho taking over. How quick was that and a little too quick if you ask me. Mauricio Pochettino must have been a dead man walking for the last month or so and maybe a little longer. A replacement for his position in a matter of hours and business as usual. No club fires a manager without a replacement lined up as that would be stupid. I can recall a post on here about a month ago calling Mourinho as the next Spurs manager.

This is one year old but then Mourinho has been out of work for that time so relevant for this post. Pochettino was given little to work with, but then so was Klopp.Klopp sold some players so freed up the budget and Spurs should have sold the 4 trouble makers who wont resign.

Mourinho had time to pick a new back room staff team. This takes time and thought as each one brings something different.
Mauricio Pochettino failed in one area and that he was too nice. It is odd as he was strict on their dietary needs making sure players had to come into eat daily as a team yet as a team they were falling apart. There is nothing wrong with the squad he has yet the squad was what cost him his job.
Man management comes in all shapes and sizes and it takes someone special to get the best out of their players. Klopp has done wonders with the players at Liverpool, but throw another coach in their tomorrow and nothing is guaranteed. Players respond differently and obviously this bunch are fickle.
Take the likes of Danny Rose as an example who he thinks he is better than he actually is. Someone must have told him how great he is at some point and his head hasn't come back to reality. All you need is 3 or 4 of those types in a dressing room and the team is screwed. this is how I see Tottenham right now as it is all about me and not the team.
I can recall a story about Brian Clough the legendary Nottingham Forrest manager. The team had just finished a game and were in the dressing room on a Saturday afternoon celebrating another victory. Clough went over to the goalkeeper and said I will see you at my house tomorrow morning at 7am. Bring your boots and don't be late. The goal keeper went to his house and was sitting having coffee when he was told he was playing in the Pub Sunday league for his son who was managing the team. They had no goal keeper so he would have to do. players didn't complain as that was your boss and that was how it was. Today could you imagine what they would do if they were told to do something like that.
Mourinho will get the dressing room sorted as his name and reputation is on the line and the Chairman Levy will want to know the truth on what is going on. I can't see there being much training this week as the new rules of what is acceptable will be thrown at them.

Jose lives in London and has been waiting for the right team. Arsenal or Tottenham and the Tottenham job came up first.
The whole sacking and new manager with in hours tells me it was already done a long time ago and they were waiting for the opportunity to do the deed. Mourinhos team would have already picked the players they want to keep and the players that need to go. They already know the strongest squad as they must have been watching them for the last few months.
The one thing Mourinho won't do and that is play players who don't want to be there and now they have to prove to him that they want to play for him. This is what Pochettino should have done long ago and was his biggest mistake. If you are good at your job you fix what is wrong otherwise you go and obviously he has been found wanting in certain skills as a manager and that could be the players don't respect him. There is something lacking and why certain mangers can deal with it and some can't and fail at some point.
Levy will have to throw some funds at the team and must have promised Jose something to add to his career spend which i highlighted the other day. he is top of that list and expect to see him go over $2 Billion fairly soon .

Truth is, it's a a bit to unfair to Pochettino if you ask me, no manager is immune to losing a dressing room Jose Mourinho did with Chelsea and Real Madrid and God help Mourinho a lot as for Levy, he's being too calculative I hope it doesn't bite back. I wish them luck though
It will bite back at some point as it always does with Mourinho. Honeymoon period will be good for Tottenham and give him 2 years, maybe 3 tops. he will definitely change things around and fix things for now but his constant need for new players and spending will come to a head like it did at United with Woodward.
It's crazy when you have to think about the teams and dressing rooms Jose Mourinho have lost, anyway it could be that Levy needs someone to you know win trophies real quick

Time will tell, i think a few of us have covered this now. Being an arsenal supporter, I was loving seeing them down in 14th! My fear is that he will turn them around and bring them back to the top.
I was secretly hoping he'd be the next arsenal manager.
He was going to either Arsenal or Spurs and whatever one came first. Why else would he be waiting in London as it wouldn't be Chelsea, Crystal Palace or West Ham. I think Arsenal has missed out and you could be right about turning Tottenham around.

So this must be the time of year like someone else said when all of the changes are being made. Hopefully all of the gambles that they are taking on new leadership will work out for the teams.
Normally happens in January and is a salvage job to stay in the league. This is slightly different as they should be higher up the table with the squad they have.
I don’t think Mourinho will get money to spend right away. Look at the interviews he is giving and the rhetoric is all about how happy he is with the squad, what good quality they have and how promising the academy players are. That sounds to me like a man whose been told he won’t be given resources for an overhaul. In fact it sounds a lot like Poch in his first few years at the club!
Much will depend upon whether Jose can deliver CL football because without that the money coming in will be significantly less than now. I’d expect an overhaul of some sort in the summer simply because Spurs look set to lose 3 or 4 first team players but Levy will likely be shopping for bargains again unless a “too good to be true” deal like Dybala comes around again
I fully agree with you as I saw he mentioned that funds will be available only for the right player. He has to work with what he has and who knows maybe the 3 or 4 players will sign extensions now. I would if I was them as I believe they will get a trophy or two somewhere.
