It started off with an Idea

I have been working for 10 months now in this company and I'm blessed to be able to meet many people from various walks of life. I'm glad that my days aren't as boring having them around. The ones you can truly be yourself with, talk about life outside of work and each talented and amazing individuals on their own.

In the office, I used to stick around with a bunch of them, 3 of them to be exact and as days go by, we have gotten closer as friends and we tend to do almost everything together during and after work hours and that includes this birthday party. If some of you know me, I rarely plan and prepare birthdays unless if that someone meant something to me. I would usually just greet a normal friend on his/her birthday, 'Hey! Happy Birthday' and that's about it. But this was different. This was for someone amazing!

About a month ago, both of my friends, Jon & Yuna came over with an idea and a reminder that our friend, Kirby's birthday was coming and that we should plan something. I asked him what was on his mind. He told us his plan that we would all create a letter and separate the words into sticky notes and place one word a day on her table, eventually completing the letter on her birthday. It was a genius plan and so we started devising. Unfortunately, I did not take any photos of the notes when she finished forming the letter.

This was a surprise and it was SO HARD to keep the secret from her and other colleagues. Thankfully, other colleagues were wise enough to not spoil this plan for a month.

The plan was set and we kept our mouth shut for 1 month. Eventually, she somehow knew it was us. I mean... who else would do such a thing because that'll be really creepy if a guy were to place love letters on her table daily. A little bit stalk-ish but it was fun for us while it lasted.

Besides 'preparing' her for her birthday a month before, another friend of mine, Yuna told us that Kirby LOVES handmade soap and she actually collects them. After much searching and contacting the local soap makers, we've decided to go for the ones made by Soap Affair. They had the soaps that Kirby would like. Natural and premium ingredients. The copywriting on the soaps was also cheeky, that it was good.

Yuna wanted me to add this part in my blog and I couldn't say no. It was her hard effort in preparing this gift for the birthday girl and the photos of her intensely wrapping the gift was her idea. Thank you, Yuna for this! This part is dedicated to you.

We celebrated her birthday at a nice cafe called Strangers at 47 right after work and I hope she really enjoyed herself.

A little bit about Kirby and why she's such a lovable person in the office.

I guess her warmth, naturally curious and caring approach to people really does make people feel that they can share anything with her. She is a very determined person and is persistent if she sets her mind to something. Natural leader, though she thinks she's not. Last but not least, she is actually part of the glue for the relationships formed in our company. Without her, our lives would be a tad bit boring, more cliques in the office and overall just missing out someone amazing.

I thank God for bringing people like you into my life because you are a blessing to me and the people around you.

So Thank you, Kirby, for being such a good friend to all of us in your own special way and I hope that this birthday will forever remind you of how grateful we are to have you as our friend!
