This league is not based around financial rewards and relates to engagement.

Everyone currently on my master list has a chance here - including those powering down or dealing in delegations over the past couple of weeks.

I've used some metrics relating to:

  • Posts (P)
  • Comments - number of (C)
  • Number of people spoken to (PS)
  • Comments - replies to replies - depth > 2 (C R)
  • Comments - length in characters (C L)
  • Witness votes (W) (for those proxying witness votes, your total is always 30)
  • Up-votes to others (V)
  • Up-votes to different authors (U V)
  • Self-votes - No minus score but no bonus STEEM (S V)

Congratulations again (I already mentioned it in my comment to Asher, but hey, can't hurt to say it more than once. :)

I haven't been mentioned this much since I was atop the engagement league, which has been well over a year ago (though I did make it up there once in April or May this year).

Even so, it hasn't been that long ago, and yet it feels like even more time has passed, simply because of all of the changes, the numbers of users who are no longer here or curtailing their time on STEEM. I miss those days quite a bit.

I was thinking the exact same thing, @gillianpearce. After a week of holidays, I'm still in 35th place... All I can do is nod my head in a sad way and think of the good, old days when @glenalbrethsen, @janton or @lynncoyle1 were Kings and Queen of the EL.

I have to smile when I'm thought of in conjunction with good old days, especially with the company you lit me in. Never could match either of them in the amount of commenting they did, even with all the time I had on my hands.

Thanks for the walk down memory lane, though. It's nice to be remembered. I suppose there is a statement as to where STEEM is as a whole, particularly in engagement based on where we all placed with our outputs compared to where we might have been over a year ago with those same numbers. I guess we just keep plugging along and see what happens. :)

What a pleasant surprise to be remembered, let alone mentioned. Of course, it would be you. :) A bit of reminiscing, eh? My dominance was pretty short lived compared to others, but it's cool to look back well over a year and think of what was. As it stands, it won't be again, not while I'm working. I needed all the time I had to do what I did. I don't know how anyone else can, unless they type five times faster than I do (which is entirely possible by the way).

It all started 17 years ago. At that time they thought rsi but I had it in my ankles too... It ended up partly lamed, lost feelings nerves etc... It came partly back but now it's getting worse again.

Rest will be difficult. I use my hands and legs. Have to keep them in a stretched position. If splinted it will hopefully rest.

Hope I make it for the next 6 years so my kids are old enough to help themselves.

It was a very nice afternoon, but when I came home about half an hour ago the sky got dark gray and a few minutes later we have had a bad thunderstorm, but only for about 15 minutes. Now is is raining and the air has cooled down :)

It's funny to soo how that list is starting to look like a coloring book for grown-ups. The fact that you are running out of colors is starting to show, @abh12345, lol ;0)

I had not expected to be in the list this week. To my big surprise, i did find my name in 35th place. I really wonder where I made those 70 comments, since I can recall no more than 20 or so. For all I remember, I haven't been Steeming when drunk, haha.

Why shouldn't they read them?

It is what I try to do first and the last thing I do (end of the day) read all comments and answer. I know not many answer or it's only short. Might be it takes them too much time, but I think it is also something you have to learn, how to respond. It is not always easy to answer, find the right words to express feelings and thoughts.

You are a very kind person yourself snd share a lot, it is something many have to get used to too.
I hope somehow more people will comment and answer. It makes steem better and is necessary for engagement and having a good time here.

What I meant was some people look at how long some of the comments are and don't have time to read them or ask me if I wrote a book. :) To be fair, comments don't have to be long, but, it is always fun to get comments.

And if I don't, it doesn't bother me, but, if nobody commented back, where would the engagement be?

To be honest I do not think Discord is the plance to engage to others.
To me it is a noisy chat box where it is hard to ask something. Mainly the same people talk. It makes me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. Next to it it might be a FAQ but I can never find what I am looking for.

My connection is slow so it is harder to sign in there as here.

If it comes to long comments.. A book.. I understand what you mean.
Many here are no writers or readers. Most of them might have never read 10 books (or one) in their entire life. Language will be a barricade too.

And there is a group that just wants to post, no matter what. Still I think they read your comments since they like to know too if a human is reading it or just the bots pay them a visit.

🤔 You know what?
You can publish a book (Engagement in silence or One way engagement) about commenting and start each next comment with: I am writing a book and your comment will be a part of it.
It will be a great Christmas present 😁

Ten more than last week, so the price of steem is not keeping people away. I think that is a good number. I need to keep better track of the weeklies, I have been enjoying tracking things lately.

It is nice to see the activity increase. Always room for more growth, it will be interesting to see that particular number when the price of steem recovers. It seems that you have added a lot of new names in the last 6 months, and that was all during depressed price times, so it is nice to see all the activity taking place.

Looks like, for this week anyway, comment count is down but character count is up. More meaningful comments / replies @abh12345? 🤔 Hard to say, perhaps, but I particularly enjoy engaging with those who put obvious time and effort into what they write in them.

And votes cast are way down … 😞

The comments could be more meaningful - although that is a very difficult metric to assess :)

I actually removed a hefty vote placer this week - the account is a curation account which votes automatically and 5000+ times each week.

On upvoting, what are your thoughts on the effect of HF21 on upvoting comments / replies? I have always found that worthwhile, but find others less interested ... I value your opinion. Thanks!

I kind of panicked there for a while because I couldn't find my name on the list. Problem was, I was looking too far down. Guess I wasn't the only one who did that. :)

Kind of an odd feeling to make the Top 30 with my work schedule infringing on my time, let alone get some STEEM for not self-voting, but I'll take both with lots of gratitude and thank yous. :)

I think getting over to dpoll helped, both by commenting on other people's posts and answering back the ones on mine.

Congratulations to all the Top 25, in particular to @dswigle. Awesome. I think your coming out on top this week is especially nice in my opinion because you and I share an affinity for a larger character count per comment. It's not often that style wins out, so way to go. Well earned, I say.

I managed to get three other mentions on this post, so I probably should answer them. It doesn't happen very often that I manage one anymore, let alone four. Not that I earned any of it, but hey, it's nice to be recognized and remembered for past achievements, too, even though most of the folks here are new and scratching their heads going, glenalbr...who? :)
