Doing High Kick For Self Defense
I like high kicks. You need to have the flexibility to do high kicks. To do high kicks, you should start with a warm-up. And then move on to do stretching.
You can do a high kick balance. You just kick slowly and hold your leg when it is extended. It is a good practice. You can do better in high kick if you spend some time on doing high kick balance.
So is it effective to do high kick for self defense?
What I'm going to say, it is my opinion. You can have a different opinion, and I respect that. Doing high kick looks good and also feels good. But when you are in a fight for self defense, you do not like to do high kick very often.
If you want to hit the attacker neck, back of the head with the kick, you have to do high kicks. It depends on the situation. If you are in a situation where you can stop the attacker doing a high kick, you can do that. You can also do flying kick if that is necessary. But instead of doing high kicks, you can do low kicks or kick to the other parts of the body. Low kick and kick to the different parts of the body are difficult to defend.
If you do a high kick and your opponent catches your leg, you are in a vulnerable position. You do not want this to happen. So if you do a high kick, make sure to get back your leg as soon as you can. Do not give a chance to catch your leg.
So what do you think of high kick? Please feel free to express your thoughts in the comment section. I'd love to hear from you.
