Form Guide
This match sees the top 2 teams in this year's Bash going head to head for the first time this season. Both are unbeaten in their last 5 games and both know that whoever comes out on top in this game will not only be all but assured qualification for the playoffs but they will also have taken a giant step towards winning the league title.
Melbourne Stars look pretty much invincible as things stand and despite the Renegades posting a very decent total at the Docklands Stadium yesterday, the Stars managed to effortlessly slip into another gear with Glenn Maxwell showing that form is temporary and class permanent as he took the game away from their city rivals with a fantastic captain's knock.
As for the Sixers, the injury to Sean Abbott could have been a real blow for them but the return of Josh Hazlewood even for just a couple of matches more than filled the gap and with Steven O'Keefe on the mend and the promise of Hazlewood returning alongside Steve Smith in a couple of weeks time, there is still plenty of reason to suspect that the Sixers will be there or thereabouts come the final reckoning. The Sixers will hope to forget their last match here at the end of last season where they bowled out for an embarrassing total of74!
The MCG's slower surface and bigger boundaries mean that big-hitting is always difficult and both sides have spinners and change-up bowlers to help limit that scoring further.
