Why Is Street Fight So Different Than A Fighting Competition?
When there are some sort of rules or you can predict the possibilities, you know what might happen. But when there are no limitations or rules and the possibilities are endless, you cannot predict what is going to happen. You can assure that this might happen, that might happen, but the fact is, you just don't know.
When you learn martial arts, you learn how to defend yourself and fight. If you are learning martial arts to participate in a fighting competition, you already know the rules of the fight. Referees and judges are there. There are certain parts of the body, you cannot hit or you will be disqualified. You wear gloves, guard, and teeth guards as a protection. This is a mat on the ground. So even if you fall down on the ground, you will not get hurt that much.
When the fight starts, you know it when, right? You hear the word fight or the sound of the bell. So you stand in a fighting stance and you are ready to fight. Your opponent is in front of you. You can see him or her clearly.
When you fight like that, you get used to it. You know this is going to happen, you know which move you are going to make against a specific move. Now think what I told you so far does not exist in a fight, what are you going to do?
In a fighting competition, you can see your opponent whereas in a street fight, you cannot always see the attacker clearly at the time of attacking. You are just walking and someone hits you from the behind or push you and you fall down on the ground. The moment you fall down on the ground, you know how painful it is because there is no mat over there.
When you get attacked from the behind, you do not know this could happen, you do not see the attacker and you are not prepared for it. In a street fight, there could be multiple opponents. How about if the number of the attackers are 5, 10, 20, 30, 50 or more than that? Anything could happen. And the only thing you can expect is unexpected.
Maybe you see somewhere or in a move that doing some fancy moves make the attackers scare. I have make a post about Fancy Moves - Is It Useful For Self Defense. In a situation like this, you do not like to do something silly. If you do something silly, it might get worse.
Why you are learning martial art, that's really important. If you learn martial arts for self defense, you can choose to learn martial art that prepares you to face real life situation. You do sparring with your training partner. You can see some changes on sparring. Instead of fighting with one partner, you can fight with multiple partners. They can attack you, now you are in a situation to learn how to deal with multiple opponents.
We can train and get better to defend ourselves and our loved ones. Thank you very much for reading this. Please feel free to express your thoughts in the comment section. @rezoanulvibes hello dear friend. Excellent today's topic.
There are many limitations when you learn wonder arts for excibition or struggle, since the teacher teaches you that you should never use the technique or physical force outside the competition, this is a dilemma.
The good thing would be to learn techniques and also wrestling, to be able to use if you find yourself in a situation that endangers your life and requires you to defend yourself.
I wish you a wonderful weekend
There is a different environment in a fighting competition and a street fight. The mindset is different. Fighting in a competition is sports and a street fight is to survive and defend yourself.
By the way, I like your post about marathons. Keep up the good work, my friend!
Have a great day! :)
