Self Defense Situation - What Do You Do? - Part 24: What We See In Movies vs What We do In Real Life For Self Defense
Welcome back to Self Defense Situation - What Do You Do? - Part 24. If you read any post of this series, you know we talk about some situations and what you can do to defend yourself in that situation.
When you watch martial arts action movies, you see different moves that look awesome. And those moves look so powerful. When I talk about what you can do for self defense, I suggest that from the self defense perspective.
If you do something for entertainment or demonstration, that's absolutely okay. Sometimes I suggest not to do that in a fight for self defense, it does not mean I hate those moves. I think those moves are not effective for self defense. And again that's my opinion. You can have a different opinion about a particular thing, and I respect that.
When you watch a fight in movies, it's nice and clear. They shoot it over and over to get the perfect move. Today I'm going to share a video where it also shows behind the scene. This is not my video, and all video credit goes to chintya candranaya.

When you are in a fight with one attacker, it is easier to handle the situation compared to fighting with multiple attackers. The first attacker has no weapon, and the girl defends his strike and counter-attack. You also see a spinning kick. It is better not to do that kick when you fight for self defense. If the attacker is a good fight, he can exploit any weakness, and you will find it difficult to defend yourself.
Then there are two guys attacking her with wood; it's like a stick. You can make the same move against a baseball bat attack. If someone can strike with a stick and he swings that towards your head, you can lower your head as you watch in this video. However, there are a couple of things you should keep in mind.
When there are multiple attackers, you cannot just focus on one attacker. If you pay your full attention to a single attacker, other attackers will hit you from another side. You want to end this fight as soon as you can.
The best thing you can do is to get in and defend the stick attack. If you move and stay away, the attackers will keep attacking you. You can get in and stop the hands. Kicking the stick and breaking that look cool. But when you are in a fight for self defense, you do not like to show your skills at breaking stuff.
That's it for now. It will be continued. Thank you so much for reading this so far. Please feel free to express your thoughts in the comment section. To learn more about martial arts and self defense, you can check out some of my recent posts.
