There are many martial arts, and each martial art has some unique moves. When you learn a martial art, you learn to move in a certain way. Everything needs to be in the right order.

As a beginner, you need to learn and master all those moves. When you keep practicing for a long time, you do not need to remember any move; you will do that automatically.

Sometimes some people learn a martial art and see another martial art, they jump into conclusion of that moves. The thing is, you get used to making moves in a specific way, and when you see something different, you start judging that without knowing it properly.

When you fight, you usually stand in a fighting stance. And there is a certain way you step forward, step back and move to the side. Fighting stance, a certain way of making the moves are there to protect yourself, not to put restrictions. When you are good at it and go to the advanced level, you do not need to stand on the basic fighting stance.

You can move freely and strike your opponent. Do not restrict your movement. You need to have an open mind when you learn martial arts. As Bruce Lee said,

"Empty your cup so that it may be filled; become devoid to gain totality." -- Bruce Lee

Even when you fight, observe the attacker's movement, you can learn to adapt that and make your move. If you learn to adapt, you will always be unbeatable.
