Defending Against A Rear Choke - Self Defense Tips
When you stand up, it is easy to move and attack for self defense. If you are on the ground or sit somewhere, there are some limited movements you can do to defend against different attacks.
If someone comes and chokes you from behind, it is difficult to defend. But when you sit down somewhere, and someone chokes you from behind, it is more complicated.
No matter which position you are in, you can make your move and protect yourself. If you are aware of your surroundings, it can give you the signal of what might happen.
When you sit down on a chair or somewhere, you do not know someone is going to choke it. It might happen suddenly. If someone puts his hand around your neck, as soon as you feel that or see that, bend your chin, it would be difficult to choke you.
If the attacker has already put his hand around your throat, tight your neck and make it hard. It might be difficult to notice even if you watch a video about defending against a rear choke. The fact is, if you cannot breathe, you will not survive longer. Make sure that you can breathe.
There is one more thing you should pay attention to when you face this kind of attack. Do not let the attacker make off-balance you. Now you can grab and pull the attacker's hand and hit him. You attack the attacker to make sure he is not going to do that again. Then get out of there quickly.
Awareness and speed matter. If you are aware of your surroundings, you can guess what might happen. In case you face a situation like this, if you make your move fast, you can defend yourself and go back home alive. That's why speed is so important.
Maybe I can talk about speed in martial art. It will be another post for another day. Thank you so much for reading this. Please feel free to let me know your thoughts in the comment section.
