My Actifit Report Card: July 15 2019

Yesterday started quite early (before 5 AM) with me replying to comments that came over night and writing an Actifit report for the day before. Then @laputis and I played our organ duet program - only 2 weeks are left before our recital trip to Svendborg, Denmark.

Then I went to the garden and did 11 pull-ups and 11 second dip hang. @laputis asked me to bring some dill so I went outside again and did another 10 second dip hang on the rings. For breakfast we had delicious scrambled eggs. Then I spent some time at the computer scheduling a podcast episode for tomorrow, while @laputis went to the supermarket to get some cake for this evening's visit with an old doctor's family. This doctor (Jonas Stankus) helped @laputis come to this world and is very dear to her and the entire family...

I then announced this week's Pinky and Spiky and Secrets of Organ Playing contests. The theme is graduation because last week @laputis and I went to see a high school graduation ceremony where our nephew received his diploma.

For the cover picture I drew a comic about Spiky getting his kindergarten 1st level diploma which made @laputis laugh.

Then I went outside and did some herbicide spraying on the weeds on our lawn. I had to dress carefully for the mixture not to get onto my skin. @laputis was already reminding me to do this job for some days... I wanted to see her smile again so I chose not to delay, haha!

Then lunch time came and we ate some turkey leftovers from the weekend with some fruit - plums and nectarines.

My voting power was beginning to recover over a few days but I decided to wait a few more hours to upvote Secret of Organ Playing Contest and Pinky and Spiky Contest entries.

In the afternoon I took a nice nap and woke up refreshed. Then I took a shower and got dressed up for our visit with that old doctor's family.

He is over 90 years old and his mind is still sharp. His wife is a bright woman too and his daughter was present as well. She is also a doctor. Pediatrician, I think.

They live nearby and offered us some herbal tea, cheese, salmon, salami, prosciutto and other kinds of snacks.

We talked about his long life, how he got interested in medicine, about the talents one must have when playing organ, painting, what advice he would give to his younger self to which he said, "it's dangerous to give advice because the times have changed so much."

But he did give an interesting insight when I asked him what talents should a doctor have? He said, "the most important thing is to love a person."

Mr. Stankus gave us a present - a signed copy of the published edition of his diaries from 1939 to 2000. No wonder why this man seems like from another league - all this relentless diary writing does create miracles to the mind. I already started reading it this morning. Not only it's a document of his life but it's also a mirror of it's time.

Then they gave us some delicious cake and cherries for dessert which already seemed too much. We agreed that in a few days they will visit with @laputis parents for lunch.

After this short tea meeting which turned out to be a feast with fascinating conversations we went to see @laputis parents to deliver them the news. Her mom was very excited and rather nervous about meeting a person of such an intellectual depth.

While at my parent's-in-law I announced the winners of Secrets of Organ Playing Contest Week 28. Then we went home. It's a 10 minute walk.

In the garden I did 11 pull-ups and 20 second dead hang. Wasn't easy because it wasn't an empty stomach.

Then while @laputis watched a romantic movie about Cornwall from Rosamunde Pilcher collection I upvoted and commented on all contest entries after which my voting power went down to 60 percent (@laputis went even lower, I think). Keeping in mind how many entries our contests receive, from now on to conserve some voting power we will upvote contest entries with only a percentage of our voting power.

Then based on @theithei choices who served as a guest judge announced the winners of Pinky and Spiky Drawing Contest Week 68. @laputis and I had some great laughs at looking at people's creativity and wit.

Then we went to bed. @laputis read "Eat, Pray, Love" by Elisabeth Gilbert and I - some posts by @tarazkp. I think we were both equally enlightened, haha!
