What am I doing as a freelancer to improve my health?
A few days back, I read an article on the internet and in the article, the blogger was talking about how living a sedentary lifestyle is bad for our lives because it has been shown to be the risk factor for certain cardiovascular diseases. The writer, in fact, termed sedentary living as the "new smoking". As a telecommuter, who would spend over 6-7 hours sitting, the article was eye-opening. The writer went on to say that exercising after 6-8 hours of sitting doesnot counteract the impacts caused by prolonged sitting

Apparently, with the freelancing jobs that I'm partaking, a sedentary way of living is inevitable. However, when I think of the health impacts it has on my life now, I know I'm better off avoiding it for the sake of my tomorrow. So I have made a decision to take 15 minutes to walk every after two hours of sitting. I'm leveraging the actifit app to help me track my activity and also using their reward system as a motivation. Yesterday, I was able to achieve 5k steps by taking three brisk 15 minutes walks.
As someone who spends sometimes days seated at my desk in my house with a couple of breaks, do what you can to make time for the gym. I went from 90 to 110kgs but now I am down to 100kgs and slowly cutting down by doing some high intensity yoga in the gym.

whaaat !!! 110kgs, that was so a lot. Anyway prolonged sitting brings weight gains because the body is inactive so it does not burn any calories henceforth all the fat is retained inside. I'm happy that you are doing something to reduce the weight though it is advisable to take a 30 minutes break from your desk every after 3 hours of sitting because exercising at the end of the day does not counteract the impacts caused by sedentary living. By the way, Are you kenyan?
My work is all online and I never have to go far for anything, supermarket and fast food is just around the corner. Diet is the main thing I changed and that has worked wonders for my energy and weight loss.
Yeah, I am Kenyan btw.

I think working from home is the coolest thing ever because you get to do what you love and productivity rate is 100%. Ever since I started working online, I wake with positive energy. How is Kenya? I'm from Ug and I was in Kenya in August. Nairobi looks pretty good.
I don't know about productivity being at 100% with all of the distractions around.. 😂
I think I saw that post you did of being in Nairobi. You also met Jean sometime back who I know, and that is how I started following you on Steem.
Nairobi is good though. There are so many things to do and the coast is actually better around this time.
I hear Uganda is great too though I have never been.
