I Can't Wait - Gardening!
I miss the Picklegarden! Walking barefoot in the morning to grab a tomato and jalapeno for breakfast in the middle of the summer.
The winter sees the back yard reduced to a wasteland. Apparently we left out solar lights out to light the way for the domestic and otherwise animals to find their way. The soil needs to rest and seasonal projects are nice constructive breaks from the norm.
It is not that I dislike winter. I love the storms that dump 2-foot snow drifts across everything. The hockey and the special events that drag bears of a feather from hibernation. The holidays and the snow days.
Still, I look forward to planting the seeds and the first blooms of the perennials.
There will be some solid physical labour with loads of assorted dirt dragging. This year, I have a bit of raised box repair but a great plan to maximize yields and get back to huge cucumbers.
Really looking forward to a season with the jumbo jalapenos that produce early and often. I could probably throw fresh slices on almost any food.
Strawberries are about to pull through their second winter and will hopefully do as well as last year. Another year on a few blueberry bushes, blackberries and the 4th year on the asparagus so we may be in good shape.
The colour shall spring from every corner and hopefully help even more pollinators this year. I always enjoyed flowers for their ornamental effect so it is a heavy bonus to help the bees and bugs try to help keep us alive.
Will this be the year the Pickleman finally produces pickles...man?
It is quite possible that I also look forward to the dog days of summer. How life can slow a little and vacation time seems to fit nicely where it wouldn't have earlier.
All I know is that I am looking forward to a summer of gardening and legions of fans will get their immersive experience with me this summer.
'Til then, a little shovelling is a job well done.

i look forward to seeing what you got growin
I am sure I will have it on full display.
Plenty of tomatoes, hot peppers, a bed of greens and a whole bunch of other stuff.
Cmon summer!
Wow, what a contrast between summer and winter there! It's cool that you keep a vegetable garden and grow fruit too, I must look into doing the same.
You definitely should!
There is something grounding about working with the ground and producing food for ourselves. Between the time and materials, it doesn't end up saving my anything but the experience and interaction with nature are reward enough for the soul.
Plus it is fun and you can fail your way to victory!
Ya, I love the idea of eating food that I grew myself.
I hear you, it's time to get some dirt under the fingernails.
It's been a while since we've been home and I wonder just how much snow we have on the ground.
