We Are Alive And Thriving - My Actifit Report Card: August 22 2022
Good evening everyone,
Hope you are all having a good time this evening.
The weather has been lovely today, a bit of sun and cool breeze throughout the day. It is obvious that the end of one season is the beginning of another, ten days from now, this season will be over and a new one will commence immediately. The one I seem not to get accustomed to regardless of the years I have been here. The sunny weather in Mali is not friendly, last year the heat went as high as 44 degree celcius, that is 10% higher than normal 😀.
To make things worst, we are deprived of constant power supply during the hot season. After taking all these into consideration, I have made plans for solar energy installation. This is very costly according to the technician I disccused with today. Howbeit, my mind is made up and there's no going back on this.
I worked full day today because the bakery had labour shortage. Two of my workers who were secondary school student just gained admission to the University. They wish to focus on studies, though their departure was sudden as they only informed me two weeks ago, the decision Is commendable and I am very happy for them.
Nevertheless, there are candidates already waiting to fill the position, but I have to tread with caution. No matter the size of a bakery, staff hiring is very delicate. If you mistakenly employ the wrong people, you might end up in hot water. Potential bakery workers have to be thoroughly screened and put on trial before employment.
I came back very early, spent little time with the children before doing my step count.

I take it that you are headed into the hot season. I understand how you feel, because our summer has been hot and the humidity a bit unbearable. I'm not handling it as well as in previous years.
As for the solar; it is a good investment! We have a 6.3 KW solar electric system consisting of 4 different arrays to get that total. They function off of 3 computers that 'talk' with each other to sync the production to the best advantage. We were fortunate that my husband did the work himself. It was not all at once, though. We built over the course of several years, almost a panel at a time. We currently have 57 panels on the roof and ground mounts combined. We are not grid tied as due to power outages because of wind storms and downed trees, we have a battery bank. If you grid tie here, you still need the battery bank. If the grid goes down and you don't have the batteries, then you are out of luck as your solar production stops.
I know that once you get yours installed, you will be much more self sufficient with electricity and able to have more consistency.

It is really hot in Mali and it has been so unbearable since 4 years now due to my medical situation. So I really don't want to go through the pains anymore 😕
You just reminded me of the KW, I didn't ask the technician how many KW it will be, we only talked of cost and he said next week he'll come over to inspect my electrical appliances and the installation point to make his conclusion on total cost. So I have taken note of this.
Your hubby is such a talented man, that's very good. Having knowledge of so many technical things saves time and money.

Thank you friend, yeah the solar energy system is very necessary for me because I really can't bear the heat anymore 😢. Good to know you also have the system in your home. It is more economical than other means of generating electricity in my own opinion.
