I get a public holiday and long weekend because South Africa did Rugby good!

I will be the FIRST to admit that I am not a huge sports fan. I do, however, live in South Africa and the sports culture here is... ingrained. I do not watch every rugby match but when South Africa gets out of their initial Group in the World Cup, I watch ever quarter, semi and finals game.

Then my Springboks shirt and jacket comes out of the cupboard and I sit glued to the game and watch and support every step of the way. (I actually use my Spingbok Jacket a lot when its chilly, people then assume that I am watching the game that's on tonight, tomorrow or watched the game yesterday... I usually did not... lol)

So, South Africa wins their 4th Rugby World Cup and two in a row at that. Fantastic.

That Final could have gone either way and it was extremely hard fought but a win is a win. I would have had to accept it if it was a win in New Zealand's favour. Its usually between those two and some others.

SO, the government decided that today, the 15th of December, a Friday is a public holiday.

Now I get a long weekend and I get some time to prepare for the holiday times! I go back to work on Monday till Thursday and then I am off till the 8th of January so that is something to look forward to!
