My new hobby

Today was my third day playing badminton and I generally sucked. My second day was really good but today was just off. My service was poor, swing was terrible and it almost seemed like my feet were glued to a single spot.

I kept feeling embarrassed about it but everyone was compassionate and understanding. We played matches in pairs because there were a lot of players today and I made my team lose every single time.

I eventually became the player no one wanted to be paired and I felt quite sad but they made it fun. I ended up stopping after 3 games and just watched others play.

I've always been a person who loves learning but for some reason, my learning curve always upsets me. I often imagine that when I start something I ought to be great at it in a short period of time but that's never really the case.

In most scenarios, I have to try super hard and really put my mind into it before I can finally be even passable. In some situations, like my coding journey, I simply give up.

However, physical activities are different. There's no way I'll be exactly the same if I consistently practice. I just need to ignore the pain and actively push myself.

I love playing badminton so far and I can't wait to get really good at it.

I get it. I feel like with a lot of things I can get the basics really quickly. But anything beyond the basics feels unattainable at times. Then there’s cooking and trying to learn any kind of choreographed movements….which make me feel that perhaps I am brain damaged

Most males I know are terrible at choreographed movements. So it's either all males are brain damaged or... Well...

I used to casually play it as a kid and it is pretty damn fun that’s for sure! We all suck but it improves with practice so keep it up!
