“Rucking” im Park

avatar

Hello dear Hivians and fitness enthusiasts!

This year, we in the Crossfit community are planning to complete 1 sporting challenge every month. Last month we did the “Impossible Mile Challenge” in freezing temperatures.

For the month of February, we now have the “Rucking in the Park”. Rucking is a mixture of running and strength training and consists of backpacking and walking, with the backpack being filled with additional weight. The planned route was a half marathon, i.e. approx. 21.1 km.

We started at 2 p.m. and I had a 10 kg weight vest and a rucksack with 10 kg weight plates. So in total I was running with 20kg extra weight.

We always ran laps around/through the park, with 1 lap being about 3.5km long and taking about 40 minutes (including short drink breaks).

Unfortunately I couldn't finish the half marathon as I had to be back at the polling station at 6pm to count the votes for today's Bundestag election. Nevertheless, I look back on a proud 18.x km.

I had expected that I would have problems with my shoulder or neck due to the extra weight. However, I have to admit that the most painful part was my feet. Several blisters have formed here and it feels pretty shitty now.

I'll comment on the election result somewhere else soon. I'm a bit disappointed about that.

Challenge for this month has been completed. Let's see what's planned for next month.

Thank you for reading, commenting or upvoting. Have a nice evening.

Extra 20kg weight? Wow, for how long have you been doing this and how have you benefitted? I don't think I can do it honestly! Carrying myself is a weight on its own lolz

A few weeks ago I did 600 box step-ups with 20kg. I've already been jogging a few times with a 10kg vest. But then only 1 mile at a time.
With 20kg it was the first time. The aim is to build up more muscle. Overall, I have lost quite a bit of weight recently. But diet and abstaining from alcohol also play a big role.
