La superestrella japonesa (ESP-EN)

Sin dudas un fenómeno, uno de los mejores beisbolistas de la actualidad (para no ser absoluto) y una estrella mundial. Sí, Shohei Ohtani es todo eso a sus 28 años y aún puede ser más.

Soy sincero, en mi país (Cuba) no se transmite mucho el béisbol de grandes ligas, así que no soy seguidor de la MLB. Aunque gracias a internet sí estoy enterado un poco del desarrollo de ese campeonato. Como tal el nombre de Ohtani me había llegado como referencia entre los mejores jugadores de béisbol, pero nunca lo había visto, hasta el Clásico Mundial de Béisbol 2023.

Undoubtedly a phenomenon, one of the best baseball players today (not to be absolute) and a world star. Yes, Shohei Ohtani is all that at 28 years old and he can still be more.
I am honest, in my country (Cuba) major league baseball is not broadcasted much, so I am not a follower of MLB. However, thanks to the internet I am aware of the development of that championship. As such Ohtani's name had come to me as a reference among the best baseball players, but I had never seen him, until the World Baseball Classic 2023.

Siendo honesto, ver a un gran jugador de pelota y no admirarlo es difícil, pero es casi imposible ver a un jugador único y no hacerte su fan. En el caso de Ohtani no solo es un jugador único, es una especie rara dentro del béisbol.

Si ya es complicado encontrar un pelotero que pichee y batee bien, es prácticamente nula la posibilidad de hallar un jugador que pichee bien, con velocidades superiores a las 100 millas por hora y que batee para un average superior a los 270 y con la capacidad de dar más de 30 jonrones en la temporada. Ese es Shohei Ohtani.

Verlo jugar en el Clásico Mundial fue todo un placer, en este evento terminó siendo elegido como el jugador más valioso (MVP) y protagonizó una imagen para la historia. Luego de haber estado todo el juego como bateador designado con 4 apariciones (1k,1bb,1 hit), salió a pichear la parte de debajo de la última entrada.

Es aquí donde se da el mejor enfrentamiento pitcher bateador de todo el torneo cuando domina con un ponche a Mike Trout para darle el título a Japón.

Con una carrera prolífica, tanto en la NPB como la MLB, se puede decir que Ohtani entra en sus mejores años como deportista. Luego de haber tenido un salario por debajo de su calidad en en Los Ángeles Angels, debido a que firmo con menos de 25 años y tuvo que someterse a las reglas internacionales de firma y la escala salarial de novato, acordó un salario para 2023 de 30 millones en su último año antes de convertirse en agente libre.

Muchos expertos piensan que el japonés podría ser el primer jugador alcanzar un acuerdo de $500 millones o más en la agencia libre de las Grandes Ligas, algo que lo volvería en jugador mejor pagado de todos los tiempos. Sin dudas, calidad para un contrato de ese tipo tiene.

Por lo pronto, luego de haberlo visto jugar, es seguro que Ohtani tiene un seguidor más en mí.

With a prolific career in both NPB and MLB, Ohtani is arguably entering his best years as an athlete. After being underpaid at Los Angeles Angels because he signed under the age of 25 and had to submit to international signing rules and the rookie salary scale, he agreed to a 2023 salary of $30 million in his final year before becoming a free agent.
Many experts believe that the Japanese could be the first player to reach a deal of $500 million or more in Major League Baseball free agency, something that would make him the highest-paid player of all time. Undoubtedly, he has the quality for such a contract.
For now, after watching him play, Ohtani certainly has one more fan in me.
