Thank You Dede Ayew - Aftermath of Brazil vs Korea
I designed this image myself using Canva.
Yesterday as the Brazilian Samba boys dazzled their way through the Japanese team, Ghanaians were more thankful for not making it through the group stages.
Ghana Vs Uruguay wasn’t so much of a revenge after all as we were well beaten by Suarez and Uruguay but then the icing on the cake was that we were both knocked out. Seeing Suarez in tears was very heart warming.😂
Jordan Ayew missed a penalty in our match against Uruguay and there and then we knew it was all over. Spain couldn’t win against South Korea which saw Germany get knocked out.
South Korea as the second placed got paired with Brazil and they had their round of 16 tie yesterday. Right from kick off, Brazil pushed Korea very hard. In the 7th minute their efforts were rewarded by a well taken goal from Vinicius. They then went on to score 4 goals in the game and won 4-1.
As the match was being played, the single phrase from all Ghanaians was “Thank you Jordan. Ghanaians were happy Jordan missed that penalty and saved us from that embarrassment. We all knew Brazil could score us even more 4.
This Brazil team is too good. To be real they did embarrass and toy with us in the friendly game we had with them earlier. I know you have to test yourself against the best but it’s still a surprise we decided a friendly against Brazil was the best way to go.
After Gyan’s miss in 2010 Ghanaians ridiculed him and associated every bad thing in the country to him. It was very bad.
I thought Ayew would inherit this for Gid knows how long but then it looks like Brazil saved him.
My contacts on WhatsApp all had one message’ thank you Ayew. It was even worse on twitter.

Screenshot of a friend’s post admiring Brazil play.
On twitter it was even more ridiculous.

Just by searching “thank you Ayew” on twitter you get to see all these hilarious posts. The comments under such posts are to die for.

I know there are surprises in football and we could probably have done better than South Korea, but in instances like this we just have to enjoy the comical and banter side of football and forget about what ifs.
It’s great that the Ghanaian players wouldn’t have to go through what Asamoah Gyan did in 2010 and everyone is going to try and move on from it.
Thank you.

Bro I don’t care how much embarrassment we would’ve faced in the hands of Brazil, I still won’t say Thank you to no Ayews! We could’ve won against Brazil by chance (even though the odds of that are very very low). But now we won’t even know thaks to the same Ayews smh
I did enjoy the Twitter memes and status updates though. Hilarious😂
We probably could have. But after watching Brazil play I don’t want to find out.😂 I’m not sure I would have been able to go through 90 minutes of shouting.
Ghanaians are really the best bro. We make the best out of every situation. The memes were crazy.😂
Massa. Me I won’t say any thank you bia. Just as @depressedfuckup said, we could have won against Brazil 🇧🇷. But now we will never know.
You really think we could have?😂
As for me I say thank you to Jordan.
You and your group of people lost hope and and have no faith in shear chance. Very big teams have lost to small teams not because of how they play, but because they had luck. That could’ve been us. But “thanks to Ayews”, that’s all it’ll ever be. A “could’ve been”.
My man. They stole the “what if” from us. No matter how impressive Brazil plays, there was a still some chance that we might score them. The Ayews made sure we never find out what could’ve been. Smh
That is the thing Ghana might have won against Brazil if they have meant, did you believe Cameroon would defeat Brazil if I told you but it happened? In this world cup, nobody is above losing and a few matches in the grouped stage proved it.
Yeah very true. I guess it’s better to progress and see what happens than not progress at all. But then some of us just lost hope.

I suppose I was bitter sweet going out with Uruguay even though you lost to them. You did still lose though lol and there is no such thing as revenge as it never ends up the way you hope it will.
It was very bitter at the beginning after all the hype. Was watching with some friends and the whole place was quiet. But when we realized Uruguay wouldn’t go through our mood changed.
Still quite disappointed but I hope we qualify for the next one.
