Laying The Ground Work For The Season Ahead

Club football has come to the end this season as clubs, footballers, fans and football lovers look towards next season. Club football last season saw some very interesting things happen like Manchester City winning their first ever champions league trophy and Napoli winning the seria A in an amazing fashion. Last season also saw Bayern Munich almost go trophy less and lose out the Bundesliga to their rivals Borussia Dortmund. For Chelsea fans, last season is definitely one they would want to forget.

The season has ended now and footballers have started to return to their teams for preseason. Pre season has become very necessary in the football for various reasons as it allows football teams to prepare adequately for the next season and try to implement a lot of new ideas. It is also a chance for teams to strengthen their squads by buying and selling players and working very well on the training ground.

We have already seen a number of teams make a lot of business in the transfer market which of course some have been questioned by fans while we also troll clubs for some kind of deals they have made. Real Madrid started early with the purchase of Jude Bellingham from Dortmund for more than €100M. Arsenal followed suite with a big spending for West Ham captain Declan Rice.

One of the deals that a lot of people have questioned is the selling of Mason Mount from Chelsea to Manchester United. It looked like Mason Mount was set to have a long term career at Chelsea but couldn’t not agree a deal with the club for a new contract. Instead, he signed for United in a £60M transfer.

Chelsea have been one of the busiest clubs in the market but with a lot of sales. Everyone agrees after last season the club needed a massive clear out which they have been doing very well so far. Koulibaly, Mendy, Loftus Cheek, Kovacic, Havertz, Mount, Azpilicueta, Kante and others have been moved on. Pulisic has an agreement with AC Millan which looks set to be completed soon while Hakim Ziyech’s transfer to Al-Nassr is still pending.

Other players Chelsea could move on include Chalobah, Gallagher, Cucurella and maybe others. So far they have only brought in Christopher Nkunku, Nicholas Jackson and some youngsters.

With all these transfers, every club is liking to strengthen in departments they lacked last season so as to be very prepared for the upcoming season. Pre season is the time managers need to drill some new ideas into their players and it seems the teams are preparing accordingly.

I for one cannot wait for next season as I think it is going to be an i interesting one. Every club looks committed to make their team better and thus should be a lot of fun. Who wins the transfer window is yet to be seen. Of course that doesn’t translate to having a better season but it sets you on the right path for success I believe.
