My Actifit Report Card: October 11 2024

Today I went to distribute DMs for my solo exhibition. However, most of them were mailed last week, so this time I distributed them mainly in areas where there is a relatively high concentration of galleries and art supply stores.

As usual, I took the city bus to the center of Kyoto City. I took the city bus four times today, and all the buses were crowded. Well, it was a beautiful day and it was the holiday season, so there was nothing we could do about it.

First of all, I dropped off my art at the Kyoto Art Center, a complex of art-related facilities. It is located near the clinic where I usually go to the hospital. I left 30 postcards there.

Next, I took a bus to Kawaramachi Sanjo and asked a clerk at a frame store in Teramachi Sanjo to drop off my DMs. This is mainly a frame store, but they also have two galleries (but the rental fee is expensive). I asked him to put them in the gallery's DMs area and he gave me 20 of them. I also left 20 at another gallery next door.

I then took the bus again to the bus stop in front of Demachiyanagi Station. A short walk from the bus stop was an art supply store. When I was a student, there used to be a big store on the corner of Kawaramachi Imadegawa where I often went to buy art materials. I asked them to leave a DM here as well, and I gave them 20 copies.

When I returned to the bus stop in front of Demachiyanagi Station to go home, there was a line of more than 10 people. There were tourists, students, and many others. The bus came soon, but it was full on the way back.

The first photo is of Kami Shichiken, Kyoto's oldest flower street, a street of teahouses that stretches along the eastern approach to Kitano Tenmangu Shrine, relatively close to my house. It is relatively close to my house.
The second picture is Yata Temple (also called Yata Jizo Son), located in the temple town, which is said to be crowded with worshippers on spirit-sending days throughout the year.
The third picture is a restaurant with impressive white walls that caught my eye in Demachiyanagi. Bottles of sake lined the ground.

今日は個展のＤＭを配りに行ってきました。といってもほとんどは先週郵送したので、今回は割とギャラリーや画材店などが集中しているところを中心に配ってきました。

例によって市バスで京都市の中心部に出たのですが、今日は計４回市バスに乗りましたがどのバスも混雑していました。まあいい天気だし行楽シーズンだし仕方ないですね。

まずは京都芸術センターというアート関係の複合施設に置いてきました。いつも通院しているクリニックの近くにあります。ここには30枚ハガキを置いてきました。

次に河原町三条までバスに乗って、寺町三条の額縁店の店員さんにＤＭを置いてほしいと頼みました。ここは額縁店が中心でありますが、ギャラリーを２つも持っています（ただし使用料が高い）。そのギャラリーのＤＭ置き場に置いてほしいと頼みました。20枚渡してきました。それから隣の別のギャラリーにも20枚置いてきました。

それからまたバスに乗って出町柳駅前バス停に行きました。バス停から少し歩くと画材店があるのです。ここは学生の頃は河原町今出川の角に大きな店を構えていてよく買いに行っていたものですが、今は移転して、店舗も少し小さくなって、それでも営業を続けています。ここにもＤＭを置いてもらいました。20枚渡してきました。

そして帰るために出町柳駅前バス停に戻ると10数人の行列が出来ていました。観光客や学生やら色々いました。バスはすぐ来ましたが帰りは満員でした。

写真を説明します。１枚目は上七軒と言って、京都最古の花街であり北野天満宮の東参道に広がるお茶屋の街の街並みです。自宅から割と近いです。
２枚目は矢田寺（矢田地蔵尊ともいう）で、寺町の街なかにあり、一年を通じて精霊送りには、多くの参拝者で賑わうそうです。
３枚目は出町柳で目についた飲食店で、白い壁が印象的な店です。地面にはお酒の瓶が並んでいました。
