Who Deserved More Match Ban?
Last week, England and Chelsea star Lauren James was banned for two games after her stamping on Nigeria's Michelle Alozie on the back in the FIFA Women's World Cup round of 16 clash.
Earlier, Deborah Abiodun, a Nigeria defender, accidental stamped with her studs on the shin of Ashley Lawrence (Canada) and she secured a 3 match ban.
Some analysts are holding their opinion that both England's Lauren James and Nigeria's Deborah Abiodun had similar offenses. Some argue that Lauren's offense was higher being intentional whereas Deborah's was during a tackle.
Some analysts say that FIFA was lenient on Lauren James and if a similar verdict was given to Nigerian youngster Deborah Abiodun, she would have been available for selection in the round of 16 clash against England. With two match bans, Lauren James could still feature in the final of the tournament if England makes it to that point.
What are you thoughts on FIFA's ban decisions on these two players? Between England's Lauren James and Nigeria's Deborah Abiodun, Who deserved more match ban?
I didn't watch the game, but I do read the news about it. But a similar offense in a very short time should result in the same consequences. I think the ban should be the same.
