The 7 Biggest Clubs Never to Have Played in the Premier League (Part 2)

G'day tribe. Previously I posted the first part of the biggest clubs never to have played in the Premier League. I wrote about Tranmere Rovers, Port Vale and Luton Town. Luton were unfortunate to lose to Huddersfield in the promotion playoffs recently and so they'll remain on the list! Check it out here.

Today I present part two and talk about another three teams on the list.

5. Notts County

Founded in 1862 Notts County are the oldest professional football club in the world and spent most of their early years in the First Division. Notts County featured in the final season of the old First Division but were relegated and missed out on the first Premier League season in 1992 alongside Luton Town. For the first time in 157 years the club were relegated out of the Football League in 2019.

4. Plymouth Argyle

Plymouth is the largest city in England never to have hosted a team that has played in the Premier League or top division of football. The closest Plymouth Argyle ever got to the top tier was in 1953 when they finished fourth in the second tier.

With crowds of close to 10,000 when playing in League Two, Plymouth Argyle have the potential to be a future Premier League promotion team and they even own their stadium which gives them greater financial stability.

I also believe Plymouth Argyle are the biggest sleeping giant in football - some 45 miles from the nearest League club & a catchment area stretching 90 miles into Cornwall. They could become a Premier League club one day with 40,000 crowds if they find the right business model https://t.co/v1aARkyB33

3. Millwall

In the late 80's Millwall played their only two seasons in the top flight with a young Teddy Sheringham up front. One of the most underrated Premier League midfielders of all time Tim Cahill made a name for himself at the club. Despite being one of the biggest hooligan clubs in English football, the London club are well supported with good attendances, and one of the better stadiums outside the Premier League.

The year that Millwall earns promotion to the Premier League will be the year that the Premier League decides to reduce itself to 18 clubs.
