The 15 Best World Cup Players of All Time
Football is the world game and the best World Cup players have become national heroes and international superstars. The last week I've been taking a step back in time and evaluating the best players that have ever graced the World Cup pitch. Let's take a look at the best World Cup players of all time.
15. Paolo Rossi
Known for his pace and elusiveness Paolo Rossi is one of the best World Cup players of all time. At the 1982 World Cup Rossi failed to score in the first four games. He still managed to finish the tournament with six goals which helped guide Italy to their third World Cup victory.

14. Michel Platini
Michel Platini is one of the best passers and free-kick takers ever seen in the World Cup. Part of the 1978, 1982 and 1986 France squad, Platini led France to the semi finals of the 1982 tournament and again in 1986 after winning the Ballon d'Or three times in a row.
13. Ferenc Puskas
So incredible was Ferenc Puskas, FIFA's annual "most beautiful" goal of the year award is named in his honour. He was one of the most powerful strikers of all time scoring 84 goals in 85 games for Hungary.
Despite dominating in the 1954 tournament, Puskas and the "Mighty Magyars" are one of the greatest golden generations that never won a World Cup.
⚽️ 27 goals in one World Cup 🤯 ⚽️ An average of 5.4 per match 🤯

12. Just Fontaine
Just Fontaine is one of the best World Cup players of all time after scoring 13 goals in six matches at the 1958 World Cup. His tally is a record for most goals in a single tournament which is unlikely to ever be beaten.
Had he not been forced to retire at the age of 28 due to injuries, the effortlessly strong striker would've likely gone on to hold the record for most total goals at the World Cup.
11. Miroslav Klose
The record for most total goals in the World Cup belongs to German Miroslav Klose. Germany never lost a game during his 13-year international career when he scored.
Klose remains one of the best World Cup players of all time with his record 16 goals in 24 appearances across four World Cups. His two goals in Germany's 2014 winning campaign leapfrogged him ahead of Ronaldo's 15 goals.
Happy Birthday Miroslav Klose! 🎂

Some great names here, I don't really much about these players but I am sure they served their country well.
I love this, can't wait for the next one.
Klose is really one of the greats in world cup and I would love to see your other list
would have thought that Klose would be higher up. But very cool idea for an article! Can not wait to see the next parts :)
Yep it does make sense him being higher in terms of goals but just wait till you see the names on the list and it'll all make sense 😉
Good call. Gonna have to be some very good players to beat Klose. He was a WC specialist!
