Boulder Fiesta 2024 and A Short Catching-up With Friends

I had a unique experience this weekend and I can't wait to share it to you.

One of my closest friends, Jasmine, invited me and our other friend Janie, to her first ever bouldering competition. As supportive as we are of each other’s endeavors, there was no question about whether we were going or not.

The competition was held at Rock On Boulder Gym in Ayala Central Bloc and started at 11:15 AM. The mechanics were to complete as many boulder routes as possible within 1.5 hours, with each route assigned points based on its difficulty. The initial round ended at 12:45 PM. The top 6, who were announced later, would compete in the final round.

We grabbed lunch right after the initial competition. While waiting for the top 6 announcement, we decided to relax and have some coffee (tea for me). That was when we had the chance to catch up on each other's life updates. And what's a catch-up session without a foodtrip, right?

While we were in the middle of chatting, the organizers of the bouldering competition posted the top 6 who would be competing in the finals. We were proud to see our friend place 6th! The finals took place at 5:30 PM. Although she didn’t make it to the top 3, we were already proud of her for being part of the top 6, especially since this was her first time competing.

I was so happy to watch the bouldering competition for the first time and have the opportunity to see my friends! The competition, especially the participants, truly inspired me to try bouldering soon. I'm actually looking forward to trying it with my friends. Stay tuned! ☺️
