Cycling to Peak Shiloto at sunset

Yesterday with @outlinez we were cycling to the highest point of the Black Peak mountain in Burgas region - peak Shiloto.

It is supposed that there was a Thracian fortress with a sanctuary in the past, and we headed, hoping to watch the December sunset from there.

We passed through the Meden Rudnik complex and headed towards the road leading to the Burgas Monastery "Rozhdestvo Bogorodichno".

From there, there is a turnoff on a dirt road, which we took up. The height of the peak is about 209 m.

At the top, we reached a spacious platform on which there were stones arranged in circles. It is assumed that this place was the sanctuary in the past.

"In 2013, archaeological surveys were briefly conducted. According to them, there was a sanctuary probably of Apollo on the ridge itself. This assumption is supported by the fact that in 1994 a one-meter statue of him was found there."

We walked along the paths, expecting the sunset at any moment.

The sunset colored the colors of the Burgasko, Mandrensko and Atanasovsko lakes and said a beautiful goodbye to the past day.

We prepared to cycling back to the city.

Wow! A wonderful trip! That’s a very old sanctuary! Very interesting. I love to be there to experience the atmosphere and sunset.
