Cycling to Salt Museum In Pomorie
This year I rode my bike again through the Museum of Salt in the Black Sea town Pomorie.
The museum is the only one, not only in Bulgaria, but also in Eastern Europe. It is dedicated to the production of salt by ancient technology - through solar evaporation of seawater.
The museum consists of an exhibition hall and about 20 decares of operating salt pans.
The salt pans themselves are pools that are separated from each other by wooden embankments.
It is assumed that the salt pans existed before the founding of the town of Pomorie.
Here you can see traditional tools such as paddles, wooden solar carts, and many others.
Lake Pomorie is an important stop on the migration of so many migratory birds. Artificial islands in the lake allow different species of birds to nest and raise their young. In the distance you can see pink pelicans that we admire so much.
