As the creator of an extraordinary project, with an exciting plot and a unique style that takes us into it, the Italian director Luca Guadagnino brings us another of his film productions, with blood, a disturbing secret, and a desire that tries to be understood by everyone. their protagonists.
Many movie lovers know the work of Guadagnino, his films are usually long and slow, some with unnecessary fillers that sometimes add nothing to the plot, however, they are disguised by a veil of intrigue that hypnotizes us and leads us to the following acts.
I don't have this director on a pedestal, since the drama he handles is usually too dense for my taste, on the other hand, I admire the photography in his films, the landscapes, the wide angles, and the faded colors. In 'Bones and All' I saw this beauty complemented by a past that had to be discovered.

Como creador de un proyecto muy singular, con una trama interesante y un estilo único que nos adentra a ella, el director italiano Luca Guadagnino nos trae otra de sus producciones cinematográficas, con sangre, un secreto perturbador y un deseo que trata de ser comprendido por sus propios protagonistas.
Muchos amantes cinéfilos conocemos el trabajo de Guadagnino, sus películas suelen ser extensas y lentas, algunas con rellenos innecesarios que a veces no aportan nada a la trama, sin embargo, son disfrazadas por un velo de intriga que nos hipnotiza y nos lleva a los siguientes actos.
No tengo a este director en un pedestal, ya que el drama que maneja suele ser muy denso para mi gusto, por otra parte, admiro la fotografía en sus películas, los paisajes, los amplios ángulos y los difuminados colores. En ‘Bones and All’ vi esta belleza complementada por un pasado que debía ser descubierto.
Based on the novel by Camille DeAngelis, a work with the same name as the film, the Italian director brings us the story of a young woman named 'Maren' (Taylor Russell) who lives alone with her father, he was very overprotective of her and did not He allowed it to come out, and we'll soon find out why. Maren has a strange affiliation, curse, or extreme guilty desire (the film allows us to make many interpretations), which is dangerous for other people.
This strange anomaly of Maren's is manifested by almost biting off a friend's finger with her teeth. At that precise moment, we understand what is wrong with the girl. It turns out that she is a cannibal or cannibal (whatever they prefer to call them), and her father always knew it, for this reason, he always tried to protect her, both her and other people, but after this latest incident, he decides to abandon her, leaving a recording explaining to her what is she.
After being abandoned by her father, Maren sets out on a journey to find answers about herself, her taste for raw human flesh, and her ecstasy. Along the way, she meets others like her, such as Sully (Mark Rylance) and Lee (Timothée Chalamet), a young vagabond who is also a cannibal with whom she will undertake her entire journey and with whom we will learn his story.
Basándose en la novela de Camille DeAngelis, obra con el mismo nombre de la película, el director italiano nos trae la historia de una joven llamada ‘Maren’ (Taylor Russell) quien vive sola con su padre, él era muy sobreprotector con ella y no permitía que saliera, y pronto descubriremos el porqué. Al parecer Maren posee una extraña filiación, maldición o deseo culposo extremo (la película nos permite hacer muchas interpretaciones), el cual es peligroso para otras personas.
Esta extraña anomalía de Maren, se manifiesta por casi arrancarle el dedo a una amiga con sus dientes. En ese preciso momento comprendemos que es lo que está mal en la chica. Resulta que ella es una antropófaga o caníbal (como prefieran llamarlos), y su padre siempre lo supo, por esta razón siempre intentó protegerla, tanto a ella como a las demás personas, pero después de este último incidente, decide abandonarla dejándole una grabación explicándole lo que es ella.
Después de sufrir el abandono de su padre, Maren emprende un viaje para buscar respuestas sobre ella misma, su gusto por la carne humana cruda y su éxtasis. En el camino conoce a otros como ella como a Sully (Mark Rylance) y a Lee (Timothée Chalamet), un joven vagabundo también antropófago con el que emprenderá todo su viaje y al cual iremos conociendo su historia.
The film is set in the United States in the 80s, a time when cell phones do not exist and Ronald Reagan ruled. Both young people must deal with the world, their problems, and internal conflicts, trying to go unnoticed until they achieve their goals. What interested me the most in the film was the theme of the cannibals more than anything, since I saw the romantic relationship between Maren and Lee with great indifference.
I was more interested in knowing about the origin of this anomaly or curse, whatever you want to call it, and that the film would focus more on it. Of course, it leaves us with an environment full of clues; which remain in the slow cooker, to which I concluded, that it is all about dark desires.
When Lee and Maren travel across the country seeking to learn more about their need (more than all of Maren's), I feel like they weren't running away just because of that, but from themselves. They knew that they did not fit in a society where they could hurt others, and if they did, they would take all possible discretion.
La película está ambientada en Estados Unidos en los años 80, en una época donde no existen los celulares y Ronald Reagan gobierna. Ambos jóvenes deben lidiar con el mundo, sus problemas y conflictos internos, intentando pasar desapercibidos hasta conseguir sus objetivos. Lo que más me interesó de la película, fue el tema de los caníbales más que todo, pues la relación romántica entre Maren y Lee la vi con mucha indiferencia.
Me interesaba más saber sobre el origen de esta anomalía o maldición, como se le quiera llamar, y que la película se enfocara más ello. Por supuesto, nos deja un entorno lleno de pistas; las cuales se quedan en la olla hirviendo con lenta cocción, a lo que llegué a la conclusión, de que todo se trata de los deseos oscuros.
Cuando Lee y Maren recorren el país buscando conocer más sobre su necesidad (más que todo Maren), siento que ellos no huían solo por eso, sino de ellos mismos. Sabían que no encajaban en una sociedad donde podían lastimar a otros, y de hacerlo, tomar todas las discreciones possible.
The performances of both protagonists, both Chalamet and Russell, seemed good to me, in a scenario full of drama and with a situation that they must overcome, it seemed to me that the reactions and the personalities of the characters were memorable, they allowed us to analyze their attitudes and understand your goals.
Photography, as I mentioned before, was another thing that I liked; the beautiful landscapes, and the sets both dark and light, I admire that in Guadagnino's films, and this case, Arseni Khachaturian, who directed photography on this film, did a great job.
This film may look very aesthetically beautiful, but there are only certain things that get you. I give it points for being a very strange film with a rather interesting theme, but the truth is that it doesn't engage. The theme of desire, perfectly placed in the atmosphere of the film, seemed to be the raw food that satiated the story, but that's all, the romantic relationship between Maren and Lee seemed only slightly touching and did not hold my interest.
The gore scenes, although they are few, did not seem so strong to me, the only thing that I disliked was the scene in which Maren bites the girl's finger, that did disturb me; since I don't like to have my fingers bitten; both hands and feet, I find it unpleasant and horrible, perhaps it's a phobia that I have, that's why for me this is the most shocking part of the film.
Other than that, it didn't seem like a big deal to me, I see it as just another ordinary work. It is not one of the best works by Luca Guadagnino, it should be noted, the only interesting thing here is the theme of cannibals, which he romanticized in a very flimsy way because the way he portrayed it did not seem attractive to me. Apart from that ending, which was so weird and forced, I wouldn't know how to define it; whether a tragic, romantic or scatologically dramatic ending ended up blurring the story, deflating it like a balloon.
The truth is that I would not see this movie again, and in my memories, it will disappear like many things. It only holds up with a single interesting element and that ended up collapsing it ironically. Those who read the original work will surely have more entertainment since that always happens.
Las actuaciones de ambos protagonistas, tanto de Chalamet como de Russell, me parecieron buenas, en un escenario lleno de drama y con una situación que deben de superar, me parecieron que las reacciones y las personalidades de los personajes fueron memorables, permitieron analizar sus actitudes y comprender sus objetivos.
La fotografía, como ya he mencionado antes, fue otra de las cosas que me gustó; los hermosos paisajes, los escenarios tanto oscuros como iluminados, en verdad admiro eso en las películas de Guadagnino, y en este caso, Arseni Khachaturan, quien dirigió la fotografía en esta película, hizo un gran trabajo.
Este filme puede verse estéticamente muy bonito, pero solo hay ciertas cosas que te atrapan. Le doy puntos por ser una película muy extraña y con un tema bastante interesante, pero la verdad es que no engancha. El tema del deseo, perfectamente ubicado en la atmosfera de la película, parecía ser el alimento crudo que saciaba a la historia, pero eso es todo, la relación romántica entre Maren y Lee me pareció solo un tanto conmovedora y no captó mi interés.
Las escenas gores, aunque son pocas, no me parecieron tan fuertes, lo único que si me desagradó fue la escena en la que Maren le muerde el dedo a la chica, eso sí que me perturbó; ya que a mí no me gusta que me muerdan los dedos; tanto de las manos como de los pies, me parece desagradable y horrible, quizás sea una fobia que tengo, por eso para mí esto es lo más estremecedor de la película.
De resto no me pareció la gran cosa, la veo como una obra más del montón. No es una de las mejores obras de Luca Guadagnino, cabe destacar, lo único interesante aquí es el tema de los caníbales, el cual romantizó de una manera muy endeble, pues como la plasmó no me pareció atractivo. Además de ese final, que fue tan raro y forzado, no sabría cómo definirlo; si un final trágico, romántico o escatológicamente dramático, terminó desenfocando la historia desinflándola como un globo.
La verdad es que no volvería a ver esta película, y en mis recuerdos desaparecerá como muchas cosas. Solo se sostiene con un solo elemento interesante y eso acabó por derrumbarla irónicamente. Los que se lean la obra original, seguro tendrán más entretenimiento, ya que eso siempre pasa.

Así como le escribí a otro usuario, la historia me parece interesante, la mezcla de romance con gore, aunque parece que no termina de equilibrarse o tener esa combinación efectiva, dices que estéticamente está bien hecha, pero que al final de cuentas es una película más.
Parece que la dejaré pasar jajaja.

Sí, es como un globo que al final se desinfla abruptamente. El único pilar sostenible es el tema de los caníbales, porque lo demás no logró atraparme del todo.

Franchalad me dijo que se aburrió mucho jajajaja a mi me gusto, pero si soy consciente de pequeñas irregularidades en la narración y esa ambigüedad que no termina de definir el film dentro de uno de los géneros que aborda. quien busque horro quizás salga decepcionado y quien busque romance también, no tengo problemas con el ritmo lento, pero siento que perdió mucho tiempo que pudo enfocarse mas en los caníbales que habitan este universo. Una investigación sobre las diferentes muertes también le hubiese otorgado otra capa a la historia. De todas formas a mi si me agrado y me dejo satisfecho con las partes sangrientas
Ja ja ja ja, lo sé, me lo repitió varias veces; con él fue peor, no le atrapó nada de la película. Yo solo estaba pendiente del tema de los caníbales y la situación romántica me pareció un estorbo en la trama, creo que por eso no desistí, por la curiosidad.
Si tiene sus partes buenas y las pocas escenas de gore que tiene son algo fuertes, pero normal; al menos para mí, sin embargo ya me sentía con la mente pesada y ese final lo empeoró todo.
The narration of this film reminds me of something similar I watched as a kid. I don't remember the name of the movie but it kept me up at night for some days😆. Well, this one sounds pretty interesting. It sounds like it was meant to be a horror film but fails to become it. I would like to watch it because I am intrigued. I want to know what may have caused the "curse". The trailer does not look very enticing but, who knows, I may end up enjoying the movie.
It's quite an interesting film, swinging in various directions, but in the end it doesn't end up convincing. Maybe others will like it, but not me.
Me encanta que siempre nos traes películas muy lejos del mainstream. Así agrada más. No hay sesenta análisis de la misma película y la recomendación es más notoria. No conocía el trabajo de este director. Me propongo verla pronto.
Puede que te guste o no sé 😂 las probabilidades son variadas. A mí no me gustó del todo, creo que le faltaron más casos, pero bueno, no me rindo con este director.

Casi todos los que la vimos estamos de acuerdo, es buena, tiene sus puntos buenos, pero no termina de encajar nunca, se siente desfasada, como si se estuviera viendo algo mal sincronizado. Igual me gustó y me encantó, pero pudo haber sido mejor definitivamente.
Está como ahí, es como un sí, pero no. No podía creer que terminara así, no sé, como que se le metió lo Shakespeare o algo así.
