Title Challenge Unlocked .
What a game at the Etihad on Sunday evening between treble winners , Manchester City and title challengers Arsenal Fc. Arsenal came into the match sitting second on the log table . It wasn't going to be an easy ride for the Gunners at the Etihad . In the last 8 matches at the Etihad , Arsenal have failed to record a win or a draw . It was going to be a different ball game this time around.
Personally , I knew Arteta and his boys were going to approach that match with the right mentality . I mean we grabbed a win against them at the Emirates so there shouldn't be any iota of fear from the boys . They proved me right by snatching a draw against the treble winners , a hard fought one at that .
Arsenal's defence was pretty solid this time around . Keeping a clean sheet against a high scoring team like City is definitely not childsplay . The Arsenal defence were able to limit the City side to just a shot on target . Wow! that is indeed a tremendous feat I must confess..
Of course I expected rival fans to be bitter about Sunday's result especially for Arsenal. Most rival fans would have expected City to pummel the Gunners. Some were even of the opinion that Arteta and his boys played haram (boring) football by parking the bus , lmao!
Anyone who believes Arsenal should have put on an all-singing , all-dancing display away to Manchester City has never managed a football team. Arteta’s job was to get something from the game , and he did. At this stage only results matter.
They were literally waiting to laugh at us again, did anyone of them realize that if we manage a point against them last season we could have won the league. In my mind we have just passed the most challenging part of the season, now is to do what we have been doing since January.
At this juncture, it is really a three horseman race between current leaders Liverpool who lead Arsenal with two points and Manchester City. It is nine games left of the 38 epl matches . The results of these remaining 9 matches will go a long way in determining who lifts the epl trophy at the end of the season.
Next stop for the Gunners is a home game against Luton Town. Hopefully we grab the much desired three points because dropping points at this stage of the season will be highly detrimental.
