A WIN AT LONG LAST

It has been a pretty long while I ranted about my favorite team ,Arsenal on here. This might have been due to the Gunners' recent poor form of late. Not until Arsenal's victory against Nottingham on Saturday at the Emirates, the Gunners have been winless in their last four matches in the premier league.

The 2-0 loss to Bournemouth was heart breaking. As if that wasn't enough, Liverpool salvaged a draw late in the second half at the Emirates to force the game to a stalemate . The Gunners then went to St James park to grab a 1-0 loss . At this point I wasn't sure if we weren't going to lose to a rejuvenated Chelsea team at Stamford bridge. Fortunately the game ended in a 1-1 draw. The poor run of form was even evident in our champions league game against Inter Milan. The match ended in a 1-0 loss for the Gunners as well.

What I noticed during this period of poor loss of form was the unavailability of someone who could start the attack from the midfield as Martin Odeegard was out injured for about two months. This clearly affected our gameplay going forward and scoring goals.

Some fans even came for Arteta's head claiming he wasn't bold enough to give Ethan Nwaneri a starting place in the line up as they felt he had the capabilities to fill in Odeegard's shoe to a certain extent. Now that Martin Odeegard is back in the fold the fluidity in the midfield is back . Now Arsenal seems unplayable with the Captain's presence in the team .

Arsenal's win against Nottingham made the Gunners become the second English team after Liverpool to clinch 2000 top flight premier league wins . Goals from Bukayo Saka, Thomas Partey and Ethan Nwaneri made this feat possible. In this game , Arsenal were clearly dominant and this was quite evident in the final result of the game . In this game as well 17 years old Ethan Nwaneri scored his first premier league after coming on as a substitute in the late second half.

Hopefully this win heralds the begining of a new winning run of form as the season progresses . Next stop for the Gunners is a champions league away match against Sporting Lisbon . This is a must win game for the Gunners though I know it will be a tough game .
