100 - 0 Real Quick !

Every single Arsenal player who stepped foot on to the pitch yesterday at Craven Cottage needs to take full accountability for that 2-1 loss to Fulham. To be candid the Gunners were absolutely dreadful . What was worrysome to me is the fact that it does not appear that we have learnt any lessons from the mistakes made in the West Ham game.We simply have to do some business in January, and buying a striker is an absolute minumum.

Talking about signing a player particularly a clinical forward, I don't think I see Mikel Arteta spending this January transfer window at all especially if we don't lay off some players in the squad . The Arteta I think I know will rather stick to the current crop of players he has and grind out the desired results needed . The question then arises, if this current crop of players posses the character and mentality to grind out important results when needed? If I won't be sentimental I'll say I don’t think so !

Its quite ironic how the Gunners were first on Christmas day and are now currently fourth on the log table on New year's day. Getting just four points out of the possible fifteen points is absolutely nothing to write home about from a team that claims to be a title contender.

As if losing at home to Westham wasn't enough ,Fulham schooled us some days later at Craven Cottage. Something seems to be obviously wrong with the way we attack lately. The Gunners suddenly find it difficult to keep the goals coming is what I've noticed. Making a meaningful mark at that final third with a goal just seems to be an herculean task especially in the last three matches for Arsenal.

The boys yesterday didn't just click with their style of play. I mean the Gunners hardly made a defence splitting pass from the middle of the park. Almost all of our offensive play came from the flanks . Martinelli on one hand has seriously dipped in playing form so obviously there was not much to expect from him at the left flank. For Saka I think he needs to work more on his 1v1 movements. He is an exceptional player no doubt but he needs to always live up to that outstanding football abilities he has.

Unfortunately, it’s the mentality of our players in the past 3 weeks which has made it clear we’re not ready to win the League.Champions don’t get so comprehensively outplayed in every department by West Ham and Fulham. You can’t lose to Aston Villa, West Ham and Fulham in the space of 3 weeks and expect to win the Premier League. Personally, I've taken my mind off Arsenal winning the league, I hope we're able to successfully make top 4 and at least win the FA cup . Except a miracle happens I don't even see us getting to the Semis of the Champions League let alone winning it . I'm not pessimistic, I'm just objective. We've got the players but the mentality I don't just see or feel it.

In terms of going into the transfer market whether during the January transfer window or in the summer , Arsenal shouldn’t go to the market and make the mistakes they’ve done in the past by buying stop-gaps like Jorginho and Trossard for example. They’re no competition to the starters, they’re just depth. When the starters don’t perform, you just know the subs won’t make a difference.

Arteta is the man for the job in my humble opinion , but he shouldn’t be exempted from criticism. He needs to fix up by finding out what's exactly is the problem affecting the squad and profer pragmatic solution as soon as possible. We need to hit a serious winning run in the next 18 games of the season. Something that we have the capacity of doing but it will take something special to achieve that feet . To be honest I'm really not sure if the boys got this but I'm effortlessly open to surprises.
