"Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J." is the title of Bruce Springsteen's first album, released on January 5, 1973. This album marked the beginning of the American musician's career and laid the foundations of his powerful rock style that has made him famous all over the world.
The album was recorded in 1972 at CBS studios in New York and contains a total of 11 songs combining rock and folk. Some of the album's highlights include "Blinded by the Light", "Growin' Up" and "Spirit in the Night".
"Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J." was very well received and critically acclaimed and earned Springsteen a contract with Columbia Records. Although the album was not a huge commercial success at the time, it is now considered one of Springsteen's best albums and one of the most important albums of the 1970s.
Some critics have praised the album for the quality of its lyrics and Springsteen's ability to tell stories of the everyday life of the people of New Jersey by intensely conveying emotions and feelings through his music.
