On 27 November 1942, Jimmy Hendrix, who is considered to be the greatest guitarist in history, was born in the American city of Seattle.
His musical career was very brief, as after playing in several blues bands, he created his own group called The Jimmy Hendrix Experience in 1965, with which he only recorded three albums.
His great fame came after the incredible performances at the Monterey (California) in 1967 and Woodstock (New York) in 1969. Jimmy Hendrix had a strange way of playing: he was left-handed but he played with a right-handed guitar, he invented totally unknown techniques, he incorporated new elements in his instrument that made it out of tune for tuning it on the fly, he used the amplifiers to the maximum which produced feedbacks and distortions that he used to create new sounds, he played on his knees or with his teeth.
Jimmy Hendrix died of a drug overdose in 1970. He lived fast and died young but became a legend.
