[ESP/ENG] Cuba con equipo a la Serie Mundial de las Pequeñas Ligas

Varias noticias deportivas han sucedido este fin de semana que han tenido una gran relevancia internacional: Ligas de fútbol; torneos de atletismo, ajedres, tenis; clasificaciones olímpicas; Grand Prix de Judo; entre otras.

Pero esta publicación no abordará ninguna de estas noticias, pues muchos de los que escriben para esta plataforma lo harán de la mejor manera posible.

La publicación de hoy tiene que ver con un segmento de la población que ama y siente como nadie la actividad deportiva y, por eso lo vivido en esta competición me movió las fibras del corazón y me sacó varias lágrimas. Ese segmento es la base de lo que viene después porque están empezando el camino de la su vida deportiva.

Por esas y otras razones mi publicación está dedicada a los niños y específicamente a los niños de BAYAMO que son los nuevos campeones nacionales de las Pequeñas Ligas del Béisbol en Cuba.

La final del Campeonato de las Pequeñas Ligas (Bayamo vs Habana del Este)

La discusión del título era al mejor de tres juegos y se realizó en Bayamo quien tuvo el mejor desempeño en la serie regular. Era una final inédita y, mientras Bayamo llegaba a su tercera final consecutiva con una medalla de oro y otra de plata, Habana del Este arribaba a su primera final y venía dispuesta a matar o morir, como se dice en el argot deportivo.

A esta instancia llegaron dos equipos de mucha entrega, pero que alcanzaron la final de manera diferente. Mientras Bayamo era el favorito, para avanzar por la zona oriental por su historia y calidad en estas categorías, Habana del Este no era, para nada el favorito de Occidente. Por esta zona la favorita era la selección de Santa Clara que había ganado la corona del 2022, pero perdió ante otra de las potencias de la categoría (Matanzas). Ante ese resultado Matanzas salía como favorita en su duelo contra Habana del Este que había desbancado a Pinar del Río.

Pero, como le gusta decir a este autor, esto es deporte y los favoritismos se confirman en el terreno de juego. Y mientras Bayamo cumplía el pronóstico de técnicos y especialistas pasando a la final, Habana del Este volvió a dar sorpresas y eliminó en semifinales al potente equipo matancero. Aquí aportar un dato solamente: estuvo a punto de escenificarse la misma final que se ha dado por dos años consecutivos en la Serie Nacional de Mayores, pero los niños de Habana del Este se encargaron que no sucediera.

Primer juego: 4 de marzo de 2023

El primer juego demostró que en el deporte no hay enemigos pequeños y la Habana del este se encargó de demostrarlo al derrotar a los favoritos bayameses por siete carreras a cinco. Fue un juego que tuvo emociones por montones y donde los niños demostraron las garras y la entrega en el deporte. Entre los elementos significativos:

•Los bayameses sólo pudieron conectar tres hits.

•Los de Habana del Este vinieron de atrás, remontaron y ganaron el partido, para poner contra la pared a lo locales.

•El ganador fue el pitcher Leidian Dreke que entró de relevo en el tercer inning cuando su equipo perdía 5 por 3 y no permitió ni un hit más.

•El único jonrón del juego lo conectó Luis Enrique Gurriel que fue el pitcher de Bayamo y casualmente cargó con la derrota.

Antes de pasar al segundo valorar el trabajo psicológico desarrollado por el profesor de Bayamo que calmó a los niños, les hizo ver que debían centrarse en que esto eran juegos y debían divertirse y que salieran a jugar con alegría que faltaban dos juegos todavía.

Segundo juego: 4 de marzo de 2023

En este juego los locales batearon todo lo que no pudieron en el primer juego y en la misma entrada de apertura definieron el partido al anotar ocho carreras y ganar finalmente por diez carreras a cuatro. Aquí los elementos más importantes fueron:

•La gran ofensiva de los bayameses logrando conectar 15 inatrapables.

•El gran pitcheo realizado por Fabián Montero que a pesar de no ganar el encuentro no le anotaron carreras limpias en 3,2 tercios y mantuvo controlado al equipo rival.

•El gran juego colectivo del equipo que supo reponerse del primer descalabro.

•El buen trabajo realizado por el cuerpo de dirección.

Tercer juego: 5 de marzo de 2023

Este era el juego más importante para ambos equipos, pues, además de ser el que los coronaría como Campeones del Tercer Campeonato de las Pequeñas Ligas quien alcanzara la victoria representaría a Cuba en la Serie Mundial de la categoría.

Con estos objetivos salieron ambos equipos al terreno de juego y listos para alcanzar el objetivo por el que tanto habían luchado durante toda la temporada. Y no hicieron quedar mal a sus fanáticos, pues desarrollaron un lindo y luchado juego de béisbol que se definió a favor de los anfitriones por seis carreras a dos y en lo que mucho tuvieron que ver los lanzadores. Los aspectos más importantes de este juego fueron:

•El gran trabajo del abridor granmense Ismael Ortega.

•La buena labor del lanzador Edgar Torres que además de relevar de maravillas decidió el encuentro con un triple impulsor de las carreras que le darían el campeonato a Bayamo.

•El trabajo destacado de su principal entrenador.

•Nuevamente el equipo hizo gala de la unidad y el gran juego colectivo que los caracterizó durante todo el torneo

Claves de la victoria del equipo Bayamo

•Gran trabajo del cuerpo técnico encabezado por Vladimir Vargas que ha sido el artífice de las dos coronas conseguidas por este equipo que además tiene una medalla de plata.

•Tuvo un mejor desempeño en los renglones fundamentales del juego: pitcheo, bateo y defensa.

•El trabajo sistemático y en la base que les ha permitido no bajar el rendimiento competitivo ni conseguir los resultados esperados.

•El gran trabajo educativo de los entrenadores que han hecho de este equipo una gran familia.

Antes del comentario final enviar un reconocimiento a los dos equipos por la gran final que nos regalaron en esta que puede ser la antesala del VI Clásico Mundial de Béisbol.

Un comentario final

Hace años que no veía tanta entrega y tanta vergüenza deportiva reunida en tantos seres humanos. Lo vivido en este campeonato nacional de las Pequeñas Ligas del Béisbol me enamora y me entusiasma. Pude ver niños que no había maneras de consolarlos por la pérdida de un partido, el fallo de un turno al bate o por cometer un error a la defensa.

Si esos valores se siguen cultivando como lo hicieron los directores técnicos de estos equipos tenemos el futuro del béisbol garantizado.

Ei equipo que ganó y que para mí es el favorito comenzó debajo en el play off de tres juegos a ganar dos, pero no perdieron su concentración y le sacaron experiencia y enseñanzas a lo que les sucedió en la final del año anterior donde llegaron como favoritos y perdieron el título nacional que ostentaban de 2021. Este es el resultado del trabajo sistemático, la búsqueda incesante de talentos, el trabajo educativo y de desarrollo de habilidades que este territorio realiza en la base.

Ahora el equipo nos representará en la Serie Mundial de la Pequeñas Ligas que se realizará en Estados Unidos. Ganará el torneo eso el autor no lo sabe, pero seguro que está que la entrega en el terreno, la lucha permanente por la victoria y representar al país dignamente está garantizado. Desde ya estamos enamorados de estos niños y los seguiremos en todos los encuentros que desarrollen en esta competencia. FELICIDADES CAMPEONES.

Several sports news have happened this weekend that have had a great international relevance: soccer leagues; athletics, chess, tennis tournaments; Olympic qualifiers; Judo Grand Prix; among others.

But this publication will not address any of these news items, as many of those who write for this platform will do so to the best of their ability.

Today's publication has to do with a segment of the population that loves and feels like no one else the sporting activity and, therefore, what I experienced in this competition moved my heartstrings and brought tears to my eyes. This segment is the basis of what comes after because they are starting the path of their sporting life.

For these and other reasons my publication is dedicated to the children and specifically to the children of BAYAMO who are the new national champions of Little League Baseball in Cuba.

The final of the Little League Championship (Bayamo vs Habana del Este)

The discussion of the title was to the best of three games and was held in Bayamo who had the best performance in the regular series. It was an unprecedented final and, while Bayamo reached its third consecutive final with a gold and a silver medal, Habana del Este reached its first final and came ready to kill or die, as they say in sports jargon.

Two teams with a lot of dedication reached this stage, but they reached the final in different ways. While Bayamo was the favorite to advance in the eastern zone because of its history and quality in these categories, Habana del Este was not at all the favorite in the west. For this zone, the favorite was the Santa Clara team that had won the 2022 crown, but lost to another of the powers of the category (Matanzas). In view of this result, Matanzas was the favorite in its duel against Habana del Este, which had ousted Pinar del Río.

But, as this author likes to say, this is sport and favoritism is confirmed on the field of play. And while Bayamo fulfilled the predictions of technicians and specialists by going on to the final, Habana del Este once again caused surprises and eliminated the powerful team from Matanzas in the semifinals. Here is just one piece of information: the same final that has taken place for two consecutive years in the National Senior Series was about to be staged, but the children of Habana del Este made sure that it did not happen.

First game: March 4, 2023

The first game proved that in sports there are no small enemies and Habana del Este proved it by defeating the favorite Bayamese by seven runs to five. It was a game that had emotions galore and where the kids showed the claws and dedication in the sport. Among the significant elements:

• The Bayamese could only connect three hits.

• The children from Habana del Este came from behind, came back and won the game to put the locals against the wall.

• The winner was pitcher Leidian Dreke who came on in relief in the third inning when his team was down 5-3 and did not allow another hit.

• The only home run of the game was hit by Luis Enrique Gurriel who was the Bayamo pitcher and coincidentally took the loss.

Before moving on to the second game, we should value the psychological work developed by the Bayamo teacher who calmed the children, made them see that they should focus on the fact that these were games and that they should have fun and that they should go out and play with joy because there were still two games left.

Second game: March 4, 2023

In this game the locals batted everything they couldn't in the first game and in the same opening inning they defined the game by scoring eight runs and finally winning by ten runs to four. Here the most important elements were:

• The great offense of the Bayamese, who managed to connect 15 hits.

• The great pitching by Fabián Montero who, in spite of not winning the game, did not score any clean runs in 3.2 thirds and kept the rival team under control.

• The great collective play of the team that was able to recover from the first loss.

• The good work done by the management team.

Game 3: March 5, 2023

This was the most important game for both teams, because, besides being the one that would crown them as champions of the Third Little League Championship, whoever won would represent Cuba in the World Series of the category.

With these objectives, both teams took the field ready to reach the goal for which they had fought so hard all season long. And they did not make their fans look bad, as they developed a nice and hard-fought baseball game that was defined in favor of the hosts by six runs to two and in which the pitchers had a lot to do. The most important aspects of this game were:

• The great work of Granma's starter Ismael Ortega.

• The good work of pitcher Edgar Torres who, in addition to relieving wonderfully, decided the game with a triple that gave Bayamo the championship.

• The outstanding work of their main coach.

• Once again the team showed the unity and the great collective play that characterized them throughout the tournament.

• Great work of the coaching staff headed by Vladimir Vargas who has been the architect of the two crowns achieved by this team that also has a silver medal.

• It had a better performance in the fundamental aspects of the game: pitching, batting and defense.

• The systematic work on the base that has allowed them not to lower their competitive performance or achieve the expected results.

• The great educational work of the coaches who have made this team a great family.

Before the final comment, I would like to send an acknowledgement to both teams for the great final they gave us in what could be the prelude to the VI World Baseball Classic.

A final comment

It has been years since I have seen so much dedication and so much sporting shame in so many human beings. What I experienced in this national Little League Baseball championship makes me fall in love and excites me. I was able to see children that there was no way to console them for the loss of a game, the failure of a turn at bat or for committing a defensive error.

If these values continue to be cultivated as the managers of these teams did, the future of baseball is guaranteed.

The team that won and that for me is the favorite started below in the play off of three games to win two, but they did not lose their concentration and they drew experience and lessons from what happened to them in the final of the previous year where they arrived as favorites and lost the national title that they held from 2021. This is the result of the systematic work, the relentless search for talent, the educational work and the development of skills that this territory carries out at the grassroots.

Now the team will represent us in the Little League World Series to be held in the United States. The author does not know if they will win the tournament, but it is certain that the dedication on the field, the permanent struggle for victory and to represent the country with dignity is guaranteed. We are already in love with these children and we will follow them in all the matches they develop in this competition. CONGRATULATIONS CHAMPIONS.
