[ESP/ENG] Béisbol femenino en Cuba / Women's baseball in Cuba
Pero hoy mi publicación no tratará sobre nada de eso. Voy a referirme a un acontecimiento deportivo que concluyó ayer en Cuba y que quizás no tiene relevancia para muchas personas, pero para los que amamos el deporte en este país, hemos disfrutado tanto de momentos relevantes que nos han hecho tan feliz y queremos que Cuba vuelva a ubicarse en los lugares que siempre estuvo, tenemos la obligación de referirnos a estos temas.
Ayer concluyó el Sexto Campeonato del Béisbol Femenino en Cuba, un evento que cautivó a la afición del país que le dio seguimiento y que tuvo entre sus novedades a un nuevo campeón nacional.
De Geografía y Béisbol.
Cuba se encuentra ubicada en América Central, bañada por las aguas del Mar Caribe y es la mayor de las 5 islas del Caribe: Cuba, Jamaica, Haití, República Dominicana y Puerto Rico. Como isla que es, todas sus fronteras son marítimas y además de la salud, se destacan entre sus principales actividades económicas la producción de níquel y cobalto, azúcar de caña, tabaco y turismo. Dentro de las actividades sociales se destacan la educación, la cultura y el deporte. En el deporte son reconocidos los logros alcanzados; entre otros, en el boxeo, judo, atletismo, lucha, voleibol y BÉISBOL.
Para los cubanos el béisbol es mucho más que el deporte nacional, es identidad, cultura, pasión. Este deporte ha logrado movilizar más seres humanos que cualquier acontecimiento dentro del país. Por eso es que nos duele la actual situación que atraviesa el deporte de las bolas y los strikes.

Mucho se tuvo que batallar, para lograr que en el país las mujeres pudieran acceder primero, a practicar este deporte y segundo, a poder realizar su campeonato nacional. Para que se tenga una idea: Se han realizado 61 campeonatos nacionales de béisbol masculinos y este que culminó ayer fue, apenas, el número 6. Reconocimiento a todo el que tuvo que ver con esto, en especial a la guerrera Margarita Mayeta, quien dirige la pelota femenina en Cuba, desde sus inicios.
Antesala del VI Campeonato del Béisbol Femenino en Cuba
Con el concluido ayer, en Cuba se habían realizado 5 torneos nacionales de béisbol que habían tenido dos claros dominadores: Equipo Granma que ganó los tres primeros y Ciego de Ávila que ganó los otros dos. Con estos equipos como favoritos, para ganar el torneo se inició, en la tierra de las máximas ganadoras de este torneo, el VI Campeonato de Béisbol Femenino Cuba 2022.

Los equipos participantes fueron Granma, Ciego de Ávila, Santiago de Cuba, Camagüey, Pinar del Río y La Habana.
El torneo se inició por el sistema de todos contra todos, en el que los 4 primeros lugares discutirían el título nacional de Cuba y los puestos del segundo al cuarto. Es bueno señalar que de las 14 provincias que tiene el país, solo participaron 6 que son las que tienen mayor desarrollo en el deporte y podían garantizar un buen espectáculo.
Desde el inicio se vislumbró una fuerte lucha, entre los dos favoritos pre competencia: Granma y Ciego de Ávila que eran campeón y subcampeón de la edición anterior. A estos dos se sumaban Santiago de Cuba y Camagüey. El torneo regular culminó con tres equipos empatados, con 4 victorias y una derrota (Santiago de Cuba, Camagüey, Ciego de Ávila) y otro con 3 victorias y dos derrotas (Granma). En los puestos quinto y sexto culminaron Pinar del Río y la Habana.
El pareo semifinal enfrentó a Santiago de Cuba contra Granma y Camagüey contra Ciego de Ávila. Las ganadoras lucharían por el título nacional de la pelota femenina de Cuba y las perdedoras buscarían el metal de bronce. Los juegos fueron muy peleados. En el encuentro de las anfitrionas granmenses y Santiago de Cuba se produjo la primera sorpresa cuando Santiago derrotó a las tricampeonas nacionales, en juego que concluyó 1 carrera por 0. El segundo encuentro entre Ciego de Ávila contra Camagüey. Este encuentro fue victoria de las avileñas.
La final.
El juego final fue entre Santiago de Cuba vs Ciego de Ávila y nuevamente Santiago de Cuba rompió los vaticinios que daban a Ciego de Ávila como favorito y se coronó campeón nacional al vencer 9 carreras por 3.
Varias cosas positivas dejó este torneo
• Se logró realizar la serie, a pesar del poderoso huracán que iba a afectar y afectó al país
• En el evento participaron una gran cantidad de jóvenes talentosas que garantizan la continuidad de este deporte en Cuba.
• Por primera vez se coronó un equipo diferente a Granma o Ciego de Ávila.
• Las jugadoras de la preselección del equipo nacional mostraron bue rendimiento y calidad.
Dentro de las cosas en las que se tiene que seguir trabajando están:
• Incentivar el béisbol femenino, como actividad física y deporte
• Masificar la práctica del béisbol femenino en toda la sociedad
• Realizar copas y eventos deportivos desde la base, priorizando aquellas provincias con menor desarrollo en este deporte.
• Actualizar los sistemas de entrenamientos, buscando lo más adelantado en materia de preparación técnico-táctica
• Lograr la utilización de la ciencia en función del desarrollo deportivo.
Una reflexión final
El torneo nacional que acaba de concluir demostró que tenemos talento suficiente, para alcanzar resultados superiores en los eventos internacionales, en los que participemos.
Es necesario seguir actualizando nuestros métodos de trabajo, participar en más eventos internacionales, masificar este deporte en la base y lograr que en las escuelas se practique este deporte.
A pesar del poco tiempo que tiene de practicarse este deporte en Cuba nuestras mujeres participarán en su sétimo campeonato mundial. Pero la opción no puede ser solamente participar, sino competir y lograr mejores resultados. Si queremos que este objetivo se alcance debemos poner en práctica esta y otras acciones estratégicas que ubiquen el béisbol femenino a la vanguardia del béisbol mundial.

There are several sporting events taking place these days in the international context: the Women's Basketball World Championship in Australia, which is already in the semifinal stage; the regular stage of Major League Baseball in the United States is about to conclude; the National Soccer Leagues, the Women's Volleyball World Championship and others that would make this article endless.
But today my publication will not deal with any of that. I am going to refer to a sporting event that concluded yesterday in Cuba and that perhaps has no relevance for many people, but for those of us who love sports in this country, have enjoyed so many relevant moments that have made us so happy and want Cuba to return to the places it has always been, we have the obligation to refer to these issues.
Yesterday concluded the Sixth Championship of Women's Baseball in Cuba, an event that captivated the fans of the country that followed it and that had among its novelties a new national champion.
Geography and Baseball.
Cuba is located in Central America, bathed by the waters of the Caribbean Sea and is the largest of the 5 Caribbean islands: Cuba, Jamaica, Haiti, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. As an island, all its borders are maritime and in addition to health, its main economic activities include the production of nickel and cobalt, sugar cane, tobacco and tourism. Within the social activities, education, culture and sports stand out. In sports, the achievements in boxing, judo, athletics, wrestling, volleyball and baseball, among others, are recognized.
For Cubans, baseball is much more than the national sport, it is identity, culture, passion. This sport has managed to mobilize more human beings than any other event in the country. That is why the current situation of the sport of balls and strikes hurts us.

A lot had to be fought to achieve that women in the country could have access first, to practice this sport and second, to be able to hold their national championship. To give you an idea: There have been 61 men's national baseball championships and this one, which ended yesterday, was only number 6. These two were joined by Santiago de Cuba and Camagüey. The regular tournament ended with three tied teams, with 4 wins and one loss (Santiago de Cuba, Camagüey, Ciego de Avila) and another with 3 wins and two losses (Granma). Pinar del Río and Havana finished fifth and sixth.
The semifinal match pitted Santiago de Cuba against Granma and Camagüey against Ciego de Avila. The winners would fight for the Cuban women's national baseball title and the losers would seek the bronze metal. The games were hard fought. In the encounter between the hosts from Granma and Santiago de Cuba, the first surprise took place when Santiago defeated the three-time national champions, in a game that ended 1-0. The second match between Ciego de Avila and Camagüey. This game was won by the Avileñas.
The final.
The final game was between Santiago de Cuba vs Ciego de Avila and again Santiago de Cuba broke the predictions that gave Ciego de Avila as the favorite and was crowned national champion by winning 9 runs to 3.
Several positive things came out of this tournament
- The series was held in spite of the powerful hurricane that affected the country.
- A large number of talented young players participated in the event, guaranteeing the continuity of this sport in Cuba.
- For the first time a team other than Granma or Ciego de Avila was crowned.
- The players of the national team pre-selection showed good performance and quality.

- Encourage women's baseball as a physical activity and sport.
- To massify the practice of women's baseball throughout society.
- To organize cups and sporting events from the grassroots level, prioritizing those provinces with less development in this sport.

The national tournament that has just concluded showed that we have enough talent to achieve superior results in the international events in which we participate.
It is necessary to continue updating our work methods, to participate in more international events, to massify this sport at the base and to achieve that this sport is practiced in schools.
In spite of the short time that this sport has been practiced in Cuba, our women will participate in their seventh world championship. But the option cannot only be to participate, but to compete and achieve better results. If we want this objective to be achieved, we must put into practice this and other strategic actions that will place women's baseball at the forefront of world baseball.
