Bring Back the Glory Days, Phillipe
Sometimes ago, I wrote in this post about staying where you have relevance. Particularly, the post was about Phillipe Coutinho who made a move that was unwarranted and misguided simply because of the name of the club involved. Sadly, it turned out that things didn't go for him at all while at Barcelona. For me, it was a few wasted years on his path. Imagine how successful he would have been now if he remained at Liverpool where he shined. I guess he has learned his lessons though.
However, Steven Gerrard who is currently doing a great job managing Aston Villa longs to bring back Phillipe Coutinho's glory days. Aston Villa signed the Brazilian on loan some days back from Barcelona and he has already made his debut. Interestingly, it was a memorable debut for him at Aston Villa as he scored one and gave one assist which helped the team secure a draw with Manchester United at Villa Park.
Manchester United scored two goals ahead but were unable to defend their goals. Impressive Aston Villa after hard and had a comeback to make it a tie. Generally, Aston Villa has been very outstanding ever since Steven Gerrard took over. Currently, they have moved up the table to number 13.
Steven Gerrard has generally had great impact on the squad following
appointment as manager. And I think Aston Villa will finish among the first ten. This is judging from the developments around the team. The addition of Coutinho to the squad is a big plus. Equally, rumours have it that Gerrard is looking forward to bringing Luiz Suarez to the Villa Park.
On the whole, it excites me to know that Phillipe Coutinho is back to the English Premier League. Here, I know he will shine while contributing to the overall performance of the club. Should Luiz Suarez join Aston Villa then things will get really hot for the squad.
On the other hand, I think injury problems contributed immensely to Phillipe Coutinho's absence in the Barcelona squad. I just miss him scoring those R2 goals and superb free kicks. I hope Steven Gerrard can help bring back his glory days. He is such a a great talent and deserves enough playing time to prove this. Coming over to England till the end of the season is probably the best decision for him because he gets to play where it all began.
Steven Gerrard who was once his captain while at Liverpool FC very wll knows how best to use him in order to get a maximum and good productivity from him. I hear some folks say that his glory days are over but I refuse to believe them. He is still young and talented. What he needs now is to get his confidence back and begin to show us the Brazilian we once knew.
I believe and think that with just a little more time, he'll get back on top form where he was before joining FC Barcelona. The English Premier League just has a way of bringing out the best in players because the competition in the league is just very high.
Really? What's next, convincing Jamie Carragher to come out of retirement? 🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣
That's impossible you know
People forget that Coutinho also suffered from the constant changes of managers at Barcelona. Different styles of football, and I honestly still don't know what role exactly was he supposed to play a left winger, playmaker, ball playing midfielder, right winger, or what exactly. Throw a player in different positions with different objective every time he is on and he will struggle. It is still early to see, but I will be glad if he got his groove back.
