Let the camping begin!

I'm excited to share my first-ever @actifit post, which is also my debut @worldmappin post!

While fewer than 4,000 steps might not be impressive in the Actifit community, I still want to share this little stroll with you. It's part of our current camping adventure, and the spot we're at is definitely worth pinning on Worldmappin 📌 😊.

My girlfriend and I are on vacation, starting with a cozy stay at Campingplatz Waldwinkel in Bramsche/Kalkriese, near Osnabrück, Germany. Next, we'll head to a wild festival adventure at Waldfrieden Wonderland in Stemwede, just 30 minutes away from the campsite.

The campsite has almost everything you need: fresh water, showers, toilets, a kiosk, very kind staff, shore power, and it's incredibly affordable. We're staying here for three nights, including a long camper van and shore power, for only 42 EUR. That's a great deal compared to other places. I say "almost" because we're missing a ping pong table ^^ and the public transportation options are nearly nonexistent. But at this price, you can't have everything!

Today is our first full day here, but the weather isn't great for long walks in the surrounding nature. On the bright side, this gives us the chance to fully enjoy the coziness of our camper van. We're chilling on a comfy bed, cooking with an induction cooker, enjoying a fridge, dry clothes, soundproof sleeping, and more. It's quite the luxury experience :D

My girlfriend bought the van a few months ago from a very kind couple in Münster, Germany. It was our fourth attempt to buy one, and we finally found our dream camper at a fair price. It's a 2010 Ford Transit with a high ceiling and many handy features, such as a 40-liter water tank, solar power, a fridge, plenty of storage, a 180cm x 140cm bed, a shore power connection, and much more.

The couple sold this beauty because their life situation changed, so they offered us an incredibly fair price. Without getting into specifics, a similar van without the camper conversion would cost about 2,000 EUR less. Plus, our van has no technical, functional, or visual issues. It already feels like a second home for us, and we're thrilled about this new chapter in our lives!

I got carried away telling you about our camper, so let's get back to the Actifit part of this post:

After a good breakfast, we decided to bring our dirty water bucket to the emptying station at the campsite. There's a small lake nearby, and since the weather was decent, we decided to spend a few minutes exploring the woods next to the lake.

Yesterday, we explored this area a bit, but we were hungry and decided to turn back. Today, we took advantage of the few dry minutes and headed to the "Schmitthöhe" via the shorter 1km route. It was the perfect time to delve deeper into this spot and enjoy a brief, pleasant walk.

Walking in the woods is always very refreshing and grounding so we enjoyed the views, air and plants on the go.

The placement of some trees in this forest strongly suggests they were planted as part of a wood harvesting business. Perhaps they were replaced due to disease—who knows. Despite this, many parts of the forest look magical and very calming.

Upon reaching our goal, we were a bit disappointed to find there wasn't even a view from the top of this little man-made hill in the woods. Despite this, I couldn't resist posing as if we had climbed a 3,000-meter mountain, lol.

The little hill is marked like the peak of a big mountain: a huge cross on top, a description of the place, and a book for visitors to write their names in. Through this, we learned about the origin of this modest pile of rocks and dirt and the name given to it.

But the walk was worth it for the lovely views along the way, the history lesson, and simply the benefit of getting some exercise ^^

The weather forecast looks very promising for tomorrow, so our plan is to go swimming in the small lake.

I’m not entirely sure about the water, but if my girlfriend wants to jump in, I'll be kind and join her :D

We might also go on a longer hike, but we need to save some energy for the upcoming festival. In 2 days, our journey continues with the Wonderland Festival, where dancing for at least 4 hours straight is common for us. There will be exciting artists in techno, hart-tech, psytrance, proggy, forrest, and experimental music, along with interesting workshops, amazing forest decorations, and hopefully many happy and friendly people.

I plan to make a dedicated post about the festival and a video about a festival totem I’ll be assembling at the start of the event :)
